The main girl comes from a big family and everyone is named after flowers her best friend was her sister rose who died. Zinnia finds a old stone path in the feds by her house and starts digging it up by herself.

If not Becca's suggestion, maybe one of Madonna's picture books - I think that series featured flower-named characters.
