Thank you for the clarification! There’s definitely a lot of info and I am clawing at it lot to not get lost within it all 😂 the more I read the more it make sense though!

Idk why I was just notified of this because you replied forever ago! But OMG it comes out in november?? I can't wait! I really loved this book!
I wanted to wait to open this discussion for Week 3 check-ins....but to be truthful, I can't wait.
Okay okay okay. First, I would like the say, the romance in this book is adorable. But idk why...I am getting this feeling that I shouldn't be trusting Nick. Maybe I am paranoid. Also I know Sel is pretty much a jerk, but I feel like he is just trying to do his job.
Secondly, from what I have learned so far regarding, aether. Aether and root are literally the same magic BUT referred to by different terms by different practicing societies. Regardless, if this is true, then this would mean (according to Patricia) no matter what, the power is essentially derived from the same place, which is essentially the dead. So, does this mean that the Order is stealing from the dead 😳 I emphasize STEALING because Patricia states that when root is used, it is borrowed, because root is not for you to own, and rootcrafters make offerings to their ancestors before accessing it with the intentions of returning it. However, the Order definitely doesn't use aether with this intention. William has stated that it is just 'all around them' but he never clarified its origins, or their methods of obtaining it.
Besides the dead having the closest access, she mentions supernatural creatures have the second closest access. But I assume the Order is an organization formed of the living.
Am I getting this right?
So far part 2 is my favorite because of this underlying tension that we are experiencing for the first time alongside Bree, which I imagine is going to continue to grow...and that graveyard scene was overwhelmingly powerful.
