► UNSOLVED: One specific book > YA fiction series. Characters of the book cannot go outside after reaching a certain point/ milestone/ age of their life. So all the adults can't help to fight in the war against the enemy. Use machines too. Read around 2007.

Sage So this book series I read like 15 years ago (give or take). It is similar to The Tripod Trilogy in which the characters of the book can not go outside after reaching a certain point/milestone/age of their life. So all the adults can't help to fight in the war against whatever the enemy is (can't remember). If I remember correctly the kids also use some sort of machine to fight.
If I recall correctly the cover of the book has a fair bit of yellow color.
I want the say the machines were reminiscent of like bees/wasps, but I could be wrong here.
During the series one of the characters pushes their luck and is outside around the time of "mind capture" thing and they either make it back inside in time or don't (can't remember exactly)

Like I said at the beginning, it's been quite a bit of time, but still interested in seeing if I can find the book again

I will look more into the Tripod Trilogy but I doubt that is what I am looking for as I remember yellow on the cover.

Please put genre and plot details in your header/title, rather than "similar to X series." Assume no one is familiar with the series you name and so the information isn't useful. The group rules are at the top of the group's home page.

Sage Tried to fix it yesterday. Got an error. I’ll try to fix it today

Fyi, "Page Not Found" is a common error which actually means the header you're trying to save is too long.

Thanks for editing the header. What's the genre - e.g., for teens or adults? science fiction, dystopia, etc.?

Sage Most likely teens. Read it when I was an early teen.
Not sure on specific genre. I mean it did involve adults unable to go outside kids fighting in place of them and the kids did operate machines to fight so
