AJ I read it last year, so I don't remember much of the plot (I'm waiting for my holidays to reread it :)) ). All I remember is that the world building is amazing! I believe it had 3 or 4 different countries, each with it's own history and religion explored to the detail, and they are all connected (that is a major plot point), which was really interesting.
Also, the characters are amazing! (And the romance *chef kiss* It's a slowburn, but it's so rewarding)
(Also, dragons <33 )

Emma Gizmo | 1 comments I read it a few months ago, and it was absolutely amazing! Everyone needs to read it at least once in their lifetime.
It is quite a big book, which can be daunting, but the story is so intricately written that you will turn the pages pass too eagerly to feel the length of it!
You should definitely give it a try :)

Karro | 18 comments I've read it last year, it was easily one of the best books I've ever read. It's amazing! I reread big pieces of it again and again. So don't hesistate, it's well thought and so well written! It wasn't an easy read for me as a non-English reader, but it was worth every minute of it.

laurel! (laurelreadsbooks) | 20 comments It's a fantasy book which has three different perspectives -- one of a shopkeeper, one of a mistress to the queen (this is the storyline with the sapphic relationship), and one of a dragon trainer. The world building is excellent, especially if you reference the map at the beginning of the book (there are also reference materials at the end of the book for if you get confused).

I thought it was really good. Honestly it doesnt FEEL as long as it looks---I got through it in six days. If you like traditional fantasy like the lord of the rings/game of thrones you'll enjoy this.

Eli | 9 comments One of if not THE best book I have ever read. The sapphic romance is a frequently appearing sub plot though as it’s from a few characters’ perspectives. Considering I bought it after years of no reading for some sapphic romance and fantasy and came out with a reignited love for reading it’s safe to say you’ll enjoy it. I’ve yet to find a book that can compare since🤷🏼

tazzy!! ☆ 🍊 | 7 comments omg it was SO GOOD, i personally loved it but it was tough to get through since it’s so long 😭 worth every second though

Emily M | 33 comments I thought it was decent, but it didn’t grab me as much as it did some people. The world-building is slightly wobbly by comparison to some other epic fantasies. I appreciated the Sapphic romance, but didn’t actually care about the queen character that much. It’s worth a read if you were a fan of the game of thrones TV show (the good seasons), however, as it will definitely give you the fantasy politicking and dragons that you might be missing!

Elizabeth Knowles (lizziesharpee) | 10 comments I want to read this series, but I don't know if I should read book 1 first or the sequel/prequel. I heard it doesn't matter which way, but I'm still unsure. Any ideas?
