What Are You Reading 2015 Edition

I also listened to Armada, in 2 days. It's fun, but nowhere as good as Ready Player One, but that was expected. (My Review)

Looking forward to trying Iain Banks The Player of Games pretty soon, after I finish the first two Brian Staveley books in The Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne. Banks has generally been hit or miss with me (hated The Algebraist and Excession, loved Matter and Surface Detail).

Good to know about the Hyperion audiobook! Thanks Matt!

I love your love of books, FB! :)

The Quantum Thief is probably one of my favourite books of the year...although I feel like I've read so many good books this year it's hard to say.

It's probably wishful thinking on my part. But I sure hope so. There is a perfect segue there. Definitely more I want to know and since he explains so much I hope he keeps explaining because he must have thought about the next... and the in between, and the hows and whys.

1/4>3>2. The second book suffers from second book of a trilogy syndrome, the third wraps up the story completely but it is not as good as the first. You should also read Alloy of Law which is fantastic and a standalone/prequel for the next trilogy.

Oh no! Can you put in a request that they purchase additional copies? I don't know how many they already have, but maybe they underestimated the demand. Or, maybe there are lots of copies and 45 people in front of you will go by fairly quick. :)

So I'd go 3,1,4,2 but the gap between all but 4 and 2 is pretty small of rme.

Only 7 months in and I've had some amazing reading experiences. I hope to get The Martian soon. I'm very eager.

Just finished Unglued, by Zig Davidson. See my review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I loved that narration. Enjoy!

I finished listening to Finders Keepers, and I think it's a little better than Mr. Mercedes. (My Review)
I also listened to Working for Bigfoot. Not as good as the novels, but it's always nice to get new Harry Dresden stories, and James Marsters is great as always. (My Review)
I finally finished Time Salvager, which I liked, but not nearly as much as the Tao books. I also had no idea it was the first book of a series. Why is everything always a series? (My Review)

Whether you consider The Inheritors Science Fiction, Fantasy, or merely Literature, you can see my review at https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I read this book about a year ago with my book club and found it very challenging. And while I thought it could have been better, same as you, I admired what the author was trying to do. It's pretty hard to tell a story without the characters having a spoken language and through the viewpoint of beings with limited understanding of their world. I was surprised that I understood as much of it as I did and could appreciate the irony of this sad story.

I would have ordered the book if it was out.

I've been meaning to try that series but haven't gotten around to it. I'm currently reading Uprooted by Naomi Novik, a bit of a departure from her Temeraire books, and also The Long Mars by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter. This series seems to be slowing down as it progresses, each subsequent book is taking longer to read than the previous one.

I think Like Water for Chocolate is one of those rare books, where the movie may be better.

I've been mean..."
I found that about The Long Mars too. So much so that I have not even acquired The Long Utopia yet. But I will get it and I will read it if only because of who wrote it!

So the book description reads exactly like The Last Starfighter. Is this a ripoff, homage, or something entirely different? Just curious of your interpretation.
