KateNZ | 4099 comments Ten people are brought together at a house party on a remote island, but their host is nowhere to be found. Each has a nasty secret in their past, and each has been lured there in a different way. Then they start to die, one by one. To begin with, it looks like horrible bad luck, but then it becomes clear that they are dying in the way suggested by an old nursery-rhyme that is framed on each bedroom wall. But nobody else is on the island - so which of them can it be, and why?

This one was clever. Some bits are dated now, but that's only to be expected - and there's still one aspect of it that I don't think works. But on the whole, this was a masterclass of a mystery, with a quirky bunch of characters (they're only there to advance the story, not be genuine people, but at least they're interesting). Miles better than my other two recent outings with Agatha Christie books.
