Lance introduces his mother, who suffers from anxiety and agoraphobia, to Morgan and she responds exceptionally well. Why was her reaction so different than what Lance had normally seen in the past?

Lynn (ftbooklover) I'm not sure about that one. Perhaps her new therapy has started to kick in and make some difference. Maybe she has started to get over her grief. Also she may be happy that her son seems to be getting a life outside of taking care of her.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Obviously because Morgan is "the one" to make her son happy. It did seem a bit cheesy to me, I don't think that's how mental illness really works but suited the story here I guess.
