Maven or Cal???

I think he has the potential for a redemption arc as I think he's very broken, gentle and vulnerable inside and just wants to please his evil mother Elara since as a child he was always overlooked and placed in the shadow of Cal. I'm not sure if Mare and Maven will end up together but I still hope that Maven will have a happy ending and for some reason I think he will start to act the way Draco Malfoy did towards the end of the HP books xx
Ummm, once you finish the book you'll pretty much hate Maven. In the end, I didn't want her to be with anyone.

Cal. While Maven understands Mare in some ways, he's just not a good person, that's the difference that decides it. Cal understands her pain completely, and more than that he knows what it is to go through what they have and hold on to who you are. He didn't lose himself to become a miserable person only trying to fix his life, no matter the cost. Maven did. Cal understands her and he helps her through it all.
I seriously cannot chose. Honestly if I had to chose out of the two which one I like better, it has to be Maven. Maven is such an intricate character. You cannot tell what he is thinking or what he's going to do which makes it so fun to read about him. He's so twisted I enjoy trying to unravel him.On the other side, you have Cal who I personally think is a bit boring. maybe if I met him I would think differently, but he is way too indecisive. The fact that he can't chose, Mare or the Crown, get kind of tiring. Throughout all the books he can't decide who's side he is on or what he believes. Then again, if Mare likes him there must be some reason why.
However that's just me personally. But to ship with Mare, I honestly can't decide.

It's hard to say since, I haven't finished the series, but like the nicer version of Maven, and if he stayed like that I would've preferred Maven over Cal.

I love this debate so much, even though the correct answer is obvious.
I think I would choose cal, he's the kinder, funnier, and hotter brother. Plus he has no murderous feelings towards Mare lol

Maven. Cal wasn't nearly as compelling as him. Plus he has a total Loki vibe they both have/are:-dark black short sleek hair (Thor 1)
-pale skin
-lithe but athletic build
-blue eyes
-prince
-the second son with no chance of being king
-hate their older brother and the shadows they cast and father
-conspire to kill brother and father
-love their mother (sorta for Mavy)
-magic
-mental issues/identity crisis
-backstabbers
-killed innocents (Jotun genocide was bad move Loki)

No matter what he did, Maven will always be my sweet, little, messed up baby. Always Maven, Cal is to self-centered.
I was absolutely Mareven before Elara messed with his mind but he is never going to go back to the person he was before, the person mare loved and wanted. I am all for Milorin because mare even said, if things hadn't turned out this way she would absolutely enjoy a life with the fish boy.
Well I think it's pretty obvious that Mare is going to end up with Cal. But personally I totally love Maven! I mean when I first started reading the book I totally fell in love with Maven and then at the end I was like 'oh I should have known' since all my favorite characters either start out evil or end up evil. *shrug*

Okay I don't think that Mareven could be a good relation ship. It will be so abusive and toxic. But I can't stop myself to shipp them. Actually I can't stop to love Maven since the first book ooh Maven is so broken by everyone is so a interesting character and I love him. I can't wait to read War Storm. -E

I really liked Maven in the beginning. But, by the end I didn't like either of them. Cal just wasn't that interesting to me.
Okay, I understand that Maven is evil and all but that boy is able to use his words. Like in red queen, just like Mare, I fell in love with Maven's words and the person he acted as. And then even through the rest of the books Maven's words made me fall, even as the evil king. He was just so compelling. Where as Cal is completely pure strength and force and sometimes even closed off, where as Maven especially as the story goes on, wears his heart on his sleeve.
Pues, realmente leyendo el primer libro me enamore perdidamente de Maven, pero después su traicion me destrozo por completo; aunque debo aclarar su también me encanta Cal, pero que lo que le hizo a Mare en el 3 libro fue terrible... de verdad hubieran sido una linda e imperfecta pareja.

I feel like the love triangle was really predictable and neither had any chemistry. I wish she'd had time to actually TALK to them because they have very few actual conversations getting to know each other. Both were pretty forced if you ask me. Just my opinion thought. Don't attack me!!
