SOLVED. Ghost novel set in Japan? Please help! /s

I read a novel a year ago but I can't for the life of me remember what the name or author was. ://

It was set in Japan, perhaps in the past because the main character lived in a small village with no electricity. The story was centred around a young girl and the events that occurred when her infant sister's soul was stolen by the spirits of the local graveyard (which the village people refused to enter after dark.)

So basically she entered the graveyard and had encounters with numerous spirits or ghosts (the last one had a giant pyramid head) until she defeated them and eventually befriended them. The end described how when she had children of her own she brought them to see the spirits and how when she passed away she joined the spirits in the graveyard.

It was a rather nice if not a bit short novel and I think it was by an Irish author. I distinctly remember it having a dark blue cover with a bridge on it, idk. :/
