Sci-fi Book about an evil AI that traps a guy in a computer simulation.

I vaguely remember reading a book around 2007-2008, about a guy being trapped in a computer simulation by a evil AI. I think the main characters name was peter and the AI was god-like or had god-like powers, it was kind of like "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison".

Unfortunately, this is all that I remember about the book.
