Tiffany Farfan | 6 comments For the past few years, I've hardly read an actual book. In 2019 I read 7 books and all of them were for school. With more adult responsibilities I chose fanfiction over books to devote my time to. Then when I started gaining free time back I realized I couldn't stand books anymore. I enjoyed the writing style of fanfiction more and that I wouldn't have to say goodbye to a character anymore because there were thousands of other stories about them. A few months ago I finished a fanfic and I was just done. I'd had enough of the same tropes and reading the same story featuring a different character. I discovered Libby and linked my library card and life changed. I found a story and I fell in love. I listen to audiobooks while running errands. I made a goal to read 12 books in 2022. I'm about to finish the 20th and we're only 4 months into the year. I'm hoping to hit 35 but my real goal is to just fall in love with books again. To find that feeling where I need to pick up that book and don't want to put it down. To find books that bring me joy and get caught up to speed with newer books being released. I feel like before this year the last time I seriously read was 2013.

Already I'm regaining those feelings but it's not fully there yet. I really hope I can get there.

And here I am in October having read 92 books. Almost done with the Popsugar challenge. Going out of my way to complete an October Spooky reads month and killing it. In September alone I read almost 7000 pages (most of the entire year). I'd be further along in my reading numbers if I hadn't had an intense job for two months. I've found new authors that I want to meet in person. I've read several books from 2022 and while I didn't vibe with many of them it felt nice to be able to know what's current. I did it. I fell back in love with books.
