Ariel | 5 comments Ok, I read this as an e-book around 2011-2013 or so (ballparking it). Pretty standard historical romance trope set in the English Ton.

Spoilers Ahead

Heroine

- A little dim witted and slow but very sweet
- she gets headaches when trying to read I believe (it’s very upsetting for her and she believes she is inherently “stupid”)
- falls in love with her brother’s childhood friend (I think)

Hero (can’t recall too much here)

- An Earl/Duke of some sort
- Well educated and went to school with heroines brother (I believe)
- Not necessarily looking to wed as he has his own issues to sort out

Plot

Heroine and Hero are caught in a compromising situation. Nothing too untoward, I believe there was a billiards room scene for this(?). They are married and start a pretty okay romantic relationship. Hero winds up having like 3-4 daughters out of wedlock that come and live with him and heroine. She graciously welcomes them and they adore her.

Heroine gets pregnant, but is found in some guys bed by hero (she was waiting for hero and fell asleep there, completely innocent). Hero freaks out on her and throws her out. He wants to annul the marriage.

Heroine is a social pariah and staying with her family in the country, but does try to get back with hero here and there.

Truth come out at the divorce/annulment hearing and hero loves her again and we have a HEA ending.

Any help finding this one would be appreciated!
