I read this around 2013-14 I think.
I read this book in German but I think the original language was English (could be wrong though). The German cover was red with the title written in big letters.

I think it was set either in London or in some nondescript made-up important city.

The video game gets passed around students and everyone is super secretive about it in real life. The name of the game is the title of the book. Once people get the game they become super obsessed, stop going to school or interacting in real life. The game is online and keeps going on, so if you sign out you miss out.
