Fantasy Series with Dimensional Travel,

I read this series somewhere between 2008 and 2016, but I don't think it was newly published. It has a human man accidentally travel through a portal and end up in a fantasy kingdom, with magic and wizards, and I think he ends up becoming royalty. The second book follows his daughter accidentally going through the portal back to Earth, and he has to go save her I think. Sorry I'm really vague I just cannot remember more without confusing it with other books I read around that time.
