A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels #1), by Sarah MacLean

What a scoundrel wants, a scoundrel gets...

A decade ago, the Marquess of Bourne was cast from society with nothing but his title. Now a partner in London’s most exclusive gaming hell, the cold, ruthless Bourne will do whatever it takes to regain his inheritance—including marrying perfect, proper Lady Penelope Marbury.

A broken engagement and years of disappointing courtships have left Penelope with little interest in a quiet, comfortable marriage, and a longing for something more. How lucky that her new husband has access to such unexplored pleasures.

Bourne may be a prince of London’s underworld, but he vows to keep Penelope untouched by its wickedness—a challenge indeed as the lady discovers her own desires, and her willingness to wager anything for them... even her heart.

Would you read the next installment? Its Pippa, Pen's sister and Cross' book

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments Up to Chapter 15.

(view spoiler)

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments Finished. Really enjoyed it. It was a solid four star read for me. And liked the set up for the next book.

Next month?

Pippa's story is my favorite in this series :)

June (ladyjune) | 630 comments What do you ladies think of those fallen angels especially the unmaried one? Do you have favorite one? Do you find minor character that youthink would make interesting hero/heroine?

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 13013 comments I like the premise of the fallen angels a lot. It's one of my favourite themes in historical romance and I always enjoy glimpsing into these literal dens of iniquity of the London gaming Hells.

I think I will enjoy the next book the most as I've mentioned I'm partial to bluestockings.

And I peaked at the back blurb of Chase's book (by accident) so I know what the secret is. But now I'm reading closely each book to see when I work it out. There were no obvious hints in book 1, so I'll see in Book 2.

A bit disappointed we didn't get to see Juliana and Leighton.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) | 14527 comments I notice the Rules of Scoundrels Book 3 is on sale at amazon for $.99 in case anyone is interested. I don't know how long.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1216 comments Getting a lot more out of my reread than I probably did the first time. I'm another one of those who are looking for clues about Chase - not all that far into it yet, but I did notice one comment by Chase that in retrospect could have been a clue. So far Penelope's getting a little backbone, but still a long way till Bourne's 'redemption'

Silvia | 587 comments This was a 4 star read for me, enjoyed it. ; )

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 1216 comments Finished - and enjoyed it even more the 2nd time. Concerning Chase - I found what June referred to in her spoiler (view spoiler)

Yes, please! I actually already started Book 2, but am slowly savoring it this time - the first time thru I gobbled it up quickly...
