Pop Star by Eden Finley

Read: 5/14
Rating: 4 stars
I danced around this book forever and I don’t know why. I love Eden Finley and the “Hat Trick” series is one of my favorites, so this spin-off from that was sure to be a hit for me. And it was. I loved Harley and Brix together. They were funny and sweet with just the right amount of spice. The stalker plot was interesting enough to keep me going without being too overblown. And I’m looking forward to both the books for the rest of the guys from Eleven and MB.

Review: If I hadn't already read and fell in love with another snarky person who can communicate with ghost, this may have been better.
I did enjoy experiencing Rain come to terms with this ability. All of the paranormal aspects drew me in. It was the romantic aspects that through me off. Maybe if I had gotten to see Rain and Dan together before the separation, but most of the time Rain seemed desperate for Dan's affection, when he was otherwise pretty self-assured.
Still, I would most likely continue on with the series. I want to see the evolution of Rain's abilities and how he responds. I would love to get more interaction with his family. We only got a snippet with his mom, sister and nieces.

Book ~ Never a Duke 4* ✔️ 5/17
Pages ~ 401 pages
Qualifications ~ Published April 26, 2022
Review ~ 4* so this right here Is why I always do my review immediately after finishing the book. Because I can't remember shit. I know what happened, but I don't remember all the feels. Ya know.

So anyway about the book... Poor Neddy... he never felt like he belongs. I do remember I love the part where he finally realized he was part of the Wentworth family.
Rosalind's maid is missing. Actually, her last two Lady's maids just up and disappeared. Then the book goes on of the mystery of the missing maids.

Loved seeing all the Wentworths. Duncan even came to town to show up. You get Ned's backstory. You also find out why Rosalind is so mistreated in her family.

This should be the last book of this series since everyone has their mate now. Wonder what she's going to get up to next. Wonder if Australia is going to show up in the picture as a spin-off... (*Psst that will make more sense if you read the book)

Review ~ OK so to start out with, I thought it was just going to be a retold Lords book. Shit was so familiar, I mean all 3 dudes were totally alike. You had 1 that was totally all in with the h, (Pretty Nick was another Tristan), you had 1 total asshole to the h (Sy was like Killian), you had the artist that became the friend (Remy was like Rath).

That was where most of the similarities were. I actually thought it was gonna be just a change the names & take your money. But it definitely was not.

There was quite a few surprises. I was about halfway done and a bomb was dropped that I never saw coming. Now that I look back maybe I should have. Then there was another twist. I saw part of it coming just not in the way it totally turned out.

This was just as Dark as the Lords. Man, the shit those guys put her thru.

There are a couple of other things that I'm on to see if they turn out like I think they're going to in the next couple of books. We'll see...
So yes this did end on a cliffhanger. Most peeps don't like them. I however, really like them if they are done well. I think we get more of Remy's story next.

*OH! & side Note... HOW HOT AF are these covers?? 🔥🔥🔥

Can't wait to see what Sy & his donkey dick book will look like... 😋😜😜😜

Review: Rhett had his daughter with a woman from the rodeo circuit, who basically decided she didn't want the responsibility of raising a child immediately after giving birth. So with the help of his parents he's raising Joey.
He was a participant in the rodeo circuit prior to becoming a father, and now he is taking care of the family ranch, and soon to take over things for his father.
Well one night of fun with his friends, lead to broken bones, surgery, and the need for physical therapy that he basically ignores. This leads to his father asking a friend for a favor in the form of an orthopedic doctor.
Enter Leah... Leah has her work cut out for her with the stubborn ass that is Rhett.
He puts her through her paces, but eventually things turn around.
It's a fun ride, made even better with cute little Joey being a part of the story.

This book brought up a lot of memories in me. I saw so much of my ex-husband in James and his struggles. It was a hard, but amazing read. I could truly empathize with Theo because I have been there, the ups and downs, the lies, the self-medicating, and self-harm and how you are always afraid it's your fault, but you want to help so badly. A lot of tears with this book, but not in a bad way. I loved it and I am so glad I read it.

Desiring You: Faking It With The Billionaire by Iris Taylor
Pages: 180
How the book qualifies: #688 on list
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2...
Finished: 05/24

Review: I really tried to give this book a fair chance, but I just couldn't get into it. The premise was okay. Billionaire meets girl, after his chauffer his her with his car. Pretends to be her fiancé to get info about her well being while she's in the hospital, but this is where it got stupid.... He forces her to become his soon to be wife for a year to pay off a debt. The debt being the hospital bills that he should have taken care of anyway, since she was hit by his car.
At no time does she call him on this. Yes, it was an accident, but the decent thing to do was pay her bills. He could definitely afford it.
That wasn't even the thing that made me have a hard time with this story though. It was the writing. It felt stilted to me and as much as I tried to get over that, I couldn't. I kept having to reread passages to make sure I was understanding what was being said.
From the other reviews I've read, I definitely seem to be in the minority, so please don't skip it on my account.

What if you went out one night, determined to have an anonymous hookup, to try and get over your ex and write a blog, but it turns out to be the best night of your life? And what if fate brings that hookup back into your life in the most unexpected ways? Do you walk away or just go with the flow? This book was seriously a wonderful bright spot. It was cheerful and fun and every little twist was even sweeter than the last. There was no way to read this without a goofy smile on your face because it was just so much fun. If you need a mood-booster, this is the book for you.

Week #8

Theme ~ #8. Mental Health
Option # 1
Book ~ From Sanctum with Love 4* ✔️ 5/31
Pages ~ 330 pages
Qualifications ~ "Psychologist Kai Ferguson has had his eye on Kori Williamson for a long time."
*as stated in blurb
Review ~ Kai & Kori both have secrets from their past the other one does not know. Kai has a long lost brother, Kori had a previous master that used her and betrayed her. Jared, Kai's brother, had betrayed Kai and they haven't seen each other or talked in 12 years. There is a serial killer among Jared's crew that the FBI thinks is actually Jared and want to use Mt to catch him. Big tag agrees because he wants the FBI's info to help him on a case so it's quid pro quo,
This had quite a lot of suspense to it I wasn't expecting. I really liked the buildup in two extra characters and of course I had a spoiler because I couldn't wait and read all the blurbs to Future books. Will I ever learn?

Best part where Kai's name came from...

Option 1
Hostile Takeover by Lucy Lennox
304 Pages
How it qualifies: #33 on list
Date Read: 5/14/2022
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: This had all the hallmarks of a great Lucy story and more! It was funny, sweet, and extremely steamy. Enemies to lovers is so hit or miss for me, as I either don't believe the "enemies" part, or I don't believe the turn to more, but both here worked so perfectly. Grey definitely carried a grudge against Ellison and everything he represented, and it was more of a slow burn than Lucy usually delivers as they made there way from enemies to so much more. Wonderful characters, snarky banter, and a perfect second chance story. Lucy has done it again.
