Cinderella Is Dead by Kalynn Bayron

Read: 4/1
Rating: 4 stars
This was a wonderful dystopian queer take on Cinderella. It’s not a retelling, more like a continuation 200 years later. I absolutely loved Sophia and her attitude, not sitting back and taking the status quo. I could feel her pain and struggle with every twist and turn. There was also some rage at the entire situation, but that’s to be expected. TW for misogyny, domestic violence, off-page murder of a side character, and homophobia.

Option 1
Read a book with a PNR or Fantasy shelf showing on the main page.
The Omega's Alpha Manny by Lorelei M. Hart

This last year has definitely seen me get inot Mannies , probably as they usually.sweet , and low angst and this one was no different .
Ronnie and Zave used to go to school together and had a little crush on each other ( what a surprise !!).
Needless to say Zave ends up being the perfect manny and ends up getting together with Ronnie

It does need a review, I don't think it has to be that long though

Review: Tao is the head enforcer of The Phoenix Pack and he tends not to trust outsiders. The fact that almost all pack shifters distrust loners didn't bode well for the first meeting of Tao and Riley, which took place in the previous book when Riley and the two young shifters she was taking care of, went to The Phoenix Pack for sanctuary.
Riley is a raven shifter, who actually isn't a loner in the usual sense, but came to Tao's pack because of the children she was protecting, but once their she found that she liked the people there. Tao especially.
After a night of drinking, the finally give into their desires, and Tao isn't planning on letting Riley go back to the way things were.
As always, there are some issues to deal with from outside forces on two different fronts. One a human who thinks their healer can heal his brother, and the other is someone who has it out for Riley.
As always Suzanne Wright knows how to write the action, suspense, and the sexy scenes like no other.

Review: Reread 2022: I've reread this series multiple times, and I still love it just as much as the very first time. We learn a lot about different Psy abilities, and Jacob and Vic become much more secure in their relationship (after being very insecure multiple times in the book lol)

Thanks for the reminder. On my way.

Review ~ Being a retired AF military wife made this book heartbreaking in certain parts. It was not one I could read straight thru. I didn't realize what was gonna happen to Malachi or I would have been more prepared. I'm so glad he had the support system he did & that he could end up being there for Jerry towards the end of book also. I do wish the book would have included what his decision to Whitney was going to be & it would have included what Whitney sent as proof. Maybe that will be in Rubin's book, Lightning Game next. Here's hoping at least.

The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton

Read: 4/9
Rating: 4 stars
This was my first book by Jaci Burton and it definitely won't be my last. I loved the chemistry between Mick and Tara, who each have their own secrets and burdens. But what I loved the most was how Mick was with Nathan. Parts of the story were predictable, but most romances are in some way. It still was a great read and I will be reading the next book in the series.

Review: Don't you just love when the playboy, who ends up having a heart of gold, hangs up the playboy mantel?
Logan is a playboy on the ice and off, but lately he's been trying to distract himself from the fact that he wants his best friend's girl. But does he though?
Grace first meets Logan coming out of a bathroom after a drunken hookup, but you'd have to have your head buried to not know who Logan is on campus. He has a reputation which proceeds him.
They officially meet when he accidently goes to her dorm, looking for a friends party. They end up handing out and watching a movie. Things escalate...they end good for Logan, not so much for Grace.
Logan makes it his mission to right things with Grace, and the end up spending time together.
Then THE MISTAKE happens...
My favorite thing about this book is the fact that Grace didn't easily forgive what happened. She grew from the experience and started to stand up for herself.
Thank you Elle for that.

Oh sweet, sweet Matt . . . I love him so much. He struggles with taking care of his siblings, even though they’re grown, and is weighed down by the choices he made in the past. Then Jasper blows into his life and he doesn’t know what to do. And Matt totally destroys everything Jasper believes about relationships. They are perfect for each other. I had to force myself to stop reading last night so I could get some sleep. It was just soooo good!

Review ~ This was a cute book. It had some very funny quotes. Some of my favorites were...
From Annie ~
"Crappity, crap, crapper. Fuck a duck and smack a rapper…."
“Bollocks, bitches, and Battlestar Galactica,”
From Ronan ~ “Dearest Annie, Roses are red. Violets are blue. I’m using my hand But I’m thinking of you. - Ronan”
“Really, I’m fine. I am.” “I can’t walk, and obviously I have difficulty swallowing.” He tsked. “That’s too bad….” My eyes widened at his statement, but my mouth dropped open when he added, “I prefer a woman who swallows, but spitting doesn’t bother me much.”
I LOVED the Dominant in Ronan. He was Yummy! He was a Rugby player that got suspended from the team & needed to clean up his image.

Annie was a Hermit & had some issues. She was super cute & her eccentricities were hilarious. She has this thing when she was flustered that she needed to cuss. She would always end it w/ a pop culture reference. Some of the ones she came up with were hilarious.

She also had an anonymous blog that made fun of celebrities. Of course she encounters Ronan on both sides of that fence.
So I liked the book. Would I read it again, No. Would I read the rest of the series? If I need it for a challenge? Yes. Would I jump right on it it & put other books on hold? No.
Again...

I'm still going thru & loving my Masters & Mercenaries series. This was the Doc Dom Will Daley. We haven't seen much of him. This little Novella was OK for what it was. I liked seeing Serena but other than her, we didn't get any of our regulars. Oh Ian & crew showed up for her sisters wedding. This book would have been much better if it would have taken place more at Sanctum & just wasn't all in Hawaii & her their apartments. Other than missing my crew, it was good. LOVED Bridget & once Will pulled his head outta his ass, he was good too.

Flare by Jay Hogan
422 Pages
How the book qualifies: Well-dressed man on cover
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Oh how Jay can just suck me into a story. This was a very real story about 2 men with some issues falling in love in such a realistic way. I loved both Rhys and Beck, and while they were complete opposites, Hogan did such a good job of making sure that they were made for each other. It wasn't always an easy read, but it was 100% always a good one. I also really enjoyed how Hogan handled the past sexual assault of a MC. He was not "cured" by his new relationship, rather these two had to work hard continuously to make their relationship would work with everything they'd each been through. It's a book that's romantic, has some great banter, and full of lovely characters that make me excited to see what comes next.
