True or Fictional Crime book, at the end of the book the main character crawls out of a garage that's on fire

This was a fictional crime or true crime or mystery book. I read it within the past 5 years, though it could be a recently published book or from decades ago.

What I mainly remember is the ending: the main character (I believe a girl) gets trapped in a garage after following a serial killer (who may have been her husband). The house gets set on fire and she has to tear through the garage walls to escape. The garage was some type of torture/kill room, or where he watched videos of his victims. The main character tried to grab as many video tapes as she could before they were lost in the fire.
