April 2022 Group Read #1 - Bunny
This book was very interesting definitely one of the most unique stories I've come across. Ava sort of gives me Marla vibes, the whole thing was sort of like a fever dream especially towards the end.

OMG Bunny you have to read this book. (totally)
Just started this last night and love the direction it's going in so far! I can't wait to see what awaits...
I'm at about 40% in and completely invested in this right now. Sometimes I feel the writing hypnotizes me, I get sucked in, literally!
@inciminci: That is so awesome to hear! LoL yeah, it was around 2 AM last night when I said I had to stop reading since I have work today but really enjoying it as it's also a genuine page-turner!
I'm about 16% in and love it. The writing is beautiful and Samantha gives me such Daria vibes. I'm intrigued to see where this will be going. Also I wish I could read Samanthas stories...they sound badass
@Trustno1: Another one that loves it, that's awesome! I can't wait to catch up with you all because I sense it's building up to something wild!
I just finished reading Bunny. Whew! What an absolute fever dream! There's nothing else like this book. I loved it! In my Top 5 books of all time, easily.

I kinda was getting worried every time Samantha would talk about (view spoiler). I was just like, wait a minute!

The Bunnies could be a bit Brittany, and Ava a bit Jane. For sure. Love that observation!

KDL wrote: "I just finished reading Bunny. Whew! What an absolute fever dream! There's nothing else like this book. I loved it! In my Top 5 books of all time, easily."I’m glad someone else loves this book as much as I did. I finished it last week and I STILL think about this book everyday.

It's so weird and wild... but I loved it! :)

Yeah, that's a good point too. I didn't think about that until after I finished the book and started trying to go back and mentally connect the dots.
LTJ wrote: "@KDL: LoL I can't wait as I'm so excited after hearing your thoughts on it and giving it a 5/5!!!"I didn't expect this book to be on my all-time favorites list when I started it, but yep! It is.
hoping to start this one over the weekend! i'm so excited to get into it after seeing y'all's comments. :D
@KDL: Wow! That's pretty damn amazing to be on your all-time favorites list, LoL I'm anxiously waiting to finish up work to get back into reading this!
So weird, Bunny, but in, like, the best way? 👻💖This lost me a little in the middle, but the end comes back strong! Love all the strangeness of it. (view spoiler)
Wow, so glad you enjoyed it, Crystal and yet another 5/5! I shall read your review when I'm done, shooting to finish this over the weekend :-)
@Crystal: LOL that is so awesome! Just hit 30% and wow, this has been quite the entertaining read...
@Trustno1 you're so genius, Bunny!I've not finished yet, so I won't read your spoilers, but that has been on my mind also :)
@Jacqueline: This is quite a bizarre novel that I'm finding very interesting. It's creepy, weird, and yeah, if I think what's going to happen... happens, this might very well be a perfect 5/5 so we shall see, almost at 70%!
Marina wrote: "@Trustno1 you're so genius, Bunny!I've not finished yet, so I won't read your spoilers, but that has been on my mind also :)"Good to know I´m not the only one thinking this might explain all the weirdness going on, Bunny! I´m not done yet either, but I´m so curious to see where else the book will take us. It´s so much fun.
Just finished it and must say it was both a weird and gorgeous trip, took me unawares...not what I expected at all, which I love...it's meaning more felt than spoken
Finished it late last night and was hoping for a better ending. I will say I love Awad's style of writing but it just didn't live up to the buildup that I was enjoying. LoL I was hoping for a bit more horror towards the end as it didn't deliver for me and just wanted more! Either way, am glad I read this because it did have some fun, weird, and creepy moments.I will never forget this book, Bunny :-P
KDL wrote: "caity wrote: "Anyone else getting a little bit of Heathers vibes from this??"Yep! For sure.
On my status update on my profile I said Clueless + The Craft + Heathers + Scanners vibes."
Okay, now THAT comparison makes me want to read this. I have so many books to read this month but I will add this one and get to it soon! Also, since I'm new and trying to navigate how the online book clubs function--where do we vote for the future books? Does that come in an email to us?
@Erika: Very awesome and looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Bunny whenever you can get to it! Oh yes, you'll get an email from the Mods letting you know to nominate books, vote for the group reads, and then a confirmation on what won/the links to the threads to discuss. It's pretty awesome :-D
Ooh, I'm struggling. I'm finding every opportunity I can to put this down and do something else. I'm even here now when I should be reading!Samantha is so uninteresting I honestly don't care what happens to her. Well, if a pack of real bunnies eat her I'll stick around for that.
I was quite a loner at college/uni with 99%of my interest in going to classes and then going home and not interacting with others. Apparently I'm the same with stories based in uni's. Just get on with it
I'm just starting Chapter 10. Hopefully it picks up soon, otherwise it's a DNF book :(
Guess I should get back to it.... actually I'm sure the dishes need washing ...
I just finished; it lost me a little in the middle but I'm a big fan none the less. That writing is something else entirely, I love Mona Awad's prose... It completely sucked me in even if it dragged at times - it was so enjoyable, so great!Very interesting to see how conflicted people here feel about the characters. I like how every single one of them is an overly exaggerated caricature of sorts and I don't know if I would like to meet any of them in real life but I surely loved reading about them.
Well, that definitely wasn't for me and I ended up skim reading it to see if anything good happened. Nope.I feel that if the writing style wasn't so different for many readers this book would be rated a lot lower as it's really not very interesting.

I read that a lot of people don't like how little horror there is in the book and I agree but I'm still disturbed reading it. I don't even really know why...

That sums up how I felt--disturbed, but I couldn't say exactly why or how. LOL!

I find the stranger and more confusing this book gets, the more I like it. I have no idea what's going on, what to believe, or who to trust; but I'm digging the experience of reading it.
I don't know if the discussion here framed my thoughts when reading Part 2, but I have to say I was definitely getting Mean Girls and Jawbreaker vibes, especially in Chapters 15-19. (view spoiler)[ And, maybe a bit of Fight Club in Chapter 15. (hide spoiler)]
