T.L. Coughlin (tl_coughlin) | 5 comments Hello,

My debut novel OF US AND THEM was selected as an:

Independent Press Award Distinguished Favorite for YA Fiction (2022)

Could I kindly get this added to my title?

Thank you in advance!

T. L. Coughlin

"Distinguished Favorite" does not appear to meet our requirement of an award having a clear winner.

That is, the Independent Press Award has clear winners. But the "Distinguished Favorites" are not the winners, but along the lines of honorable mentions. We don't add those as awards, although they can be mentioned in the book's description.

Nancy Regas | 2 comments My book also was a Distinguished Favorite for the Independent Press Award, March 2022. The response that the award doesn't qualify for posting as it isn't a winner is like saying all Olympic athletes that won silver which is what D.F. is equivalent to] or for that matter bronze, don't really count because they're not gold. Congratulations TL! D.F. is a BIG deal. Why can't it be listed after the description of the book. Do you want us as authors to write under the description, "the book as been acknowledged with the following awards" and then list them?

This is different than "the award doesn't have a clear winner". We post awards that have a winner, and then often, like the Booker, which has a short list. But there must be a winner and shortlist or runners up, rather than a group of distinguished titles.

Yes, awards that do not by GR policy appear in the book award section can have those recognitions listed in the description.
