Tracy researches like kind murders on the HITS system and discovers the Beth Stinson case handled and closed by Nolasco and his old partner. She secretly reviews the case and evidence, keeping her partner and team in the dark to shield them from any potential backlash. Did you foresee the retribution that came from Nolasco? Could Tracy have handled this differently or was this her best option aside from ignoring the Stinson file?

Robin (robinmy) | 2466 comments If Tracy had talked to Nolasco about the parallels in the Stinson case to the others that they're working on, she would have been shut down by him immediately. Looking into it with the help of Dan was a great idea. And keeping the rest of the team in the dark was for their own protection. They would have tried to help her and faced the same punishment.

I agree, Robin. I couldn’t envision a better alternative even though I knew Nolasco would find out eventually and exact a price from Tracy.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I agree with both of you.

In the beginning, I thought that Nolasco was a good cop, but he had a hard time letting women in his all-male club. I could forgive him if he changed. Now that I see he was sloppy and intentionally hid evidence, I don't know how he was promoted to his current position.

I never for one second believed he was a good cop. You either respect the rules or you don’t. A man who would grab a woman by her breast isn’t just disrespecting a woman, he’s violating his own department’s protocols…publicly! No, he had a really bad smell.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments I remember you mentioned that in one of our previous discussions. I guess I didn't want to believe that he was a lousy cop and a misogynist.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9309 comments Mod
Misogyny shows up in different ways. If he’d limited it to demeaning or disparaging comments, I could separate that from an overall assessment of him as a cop. But what he did wasn’t misogynistic, IMHO. It was a sexual assault and that’s against the law. That’s why I gave him the bad cop label.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3501 comments Good point.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments Nothing really to add. I totally understood why Tracy kept her team out of it. We knew for sure that Nolasco was going to find out. Having Dan help her gave her a lot more information than if she attempted to include Nolasco in letting her review their old case.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1205 comments Tracy and Robin, you said it very well imho.
I didn't realize that Dan was going to do the legwork, though. I'm really glad he got that huge paycheck and had the time to do the research for her.
