Science Fiction - Short Story - Man goes crazy due to too much change

This was read to us by my English teacher when I was in school aged about 11 or 12, about 40 years ago.
He was reading extracts from a collection of science fiction short stories and I would love to find the collection
In this short story the main character (a man) has been arrested or detained for going berserk in response to an overload in communications. The thing that tipped him over the edge was a friend radioing him to let him know he had just scored a hole in one on a par 3 golf hole. In response the main character had shoved his ice cream into his own car radio.
I am pretty sure we discussed in class the impact that change has on people and I remember Alvin Toffler's 'Future Shock' being referenced.
