It’s been some years since I first discovered Elena Ferrante through the Neapolitan quartet, which I absolutely loved. Therefore, I was excited for this one that was a Christmas gift this year. And Ferrante didn’t disappoint, this novel was brutally honest and frank. The language is precise, and even though the thoughts of the protagonists is uncomfortable to read, it is also what makes the novel great. I wasn’t as enthralled with this one as the Neapolitan quartet, but it was still a great read.
