Science Fiction short story, everyone interact only via Tv and computer screens but he tries a in-person family meeting. Read around 2004. Spoilers ahead.

It's a short story, the protagonist is a doctor of some kind, it's written as a flashback and focus on how the he build a family with a patient, a woman who was in need of a breast exam.

I read this book circa 2004 in my highschool anthology leterature book, i think the author may be french.

I think the book starts with the promise of the good intention of the protagonist for the in person, family meeting (witch is unusual for the costumes of this feature) as he describes the son, wounded and bloody, Crawling toward him with a knife to kill him. The wife is a woman who via the screen gets a breast exam showing herself directly instead of using diagrams. They then date via screen, get 2 children without meeting by providing sample of DNA to a goverment (?) service, the entire relationship is sterile and via avatars and screen, at the end when they meet the protagonist is shocked by the real apperence of he wife.

In this future world everything is done via avatar and computer screens, the story is told backword via flashbacks from the point of view of the protagonist who's a doctor, he met a woman 'couse of a visit for a breast exam, they stare dating and together make a family with kids, still without actually meeting or touching, or even revealing their real faces.
