Lynn (ftbooklover) He was her superior officer and gave her the promotion. Her hands were pretty well tied. She did what she could to convince him that Spivek probably wasn't the man they were looking for, but in the end, he was her boss and she had to follow his orders.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) Agreed. It was her first job as lead and she also was doubting herself because of what happened in the previous book. At this time in her career there was little she could do.
