I read this book with my son some years ago. I really wish I knew the name because I've done so many online searches where a lot of things come up but not the book I'm thinking about. In it the girl starts off sick and when she gets better she goes out of her house and wanders into the woods. Once they're she accidentally gets transported to this place where there's a boy. She goes back the next day and they develop a friendship and eventually there's a broken robot I believe they fix it and that's all I can remember.

This is a very long shot, but could it be Hexwood by Diana Wynne Jones? It begins this way (sort of), the girl's name is Ann and she does recover from the flu and wander into the woods.

Not everything fits, but Appointment with a Stranger could be an option. In it, the main character suffers from pretty severe asthma. She wanders into the woods and into a time portal (although she doesn't immediately recognize she's done so). Here, she's never ill and also meets a boy, with whom she strikes up a friendship.

It took me a long time to get back on but it was HEXWOOD! When I read it again the nostalgia was like eating my favorite ice cream on my cozy chair, covered a quilt in early winter.

Because my son is humoring me, I'm reading it with him and I get a kick out of him saying, "Oh, I remember that part."
