COLORS COUNT!! A NEW SHADE
Perpetual Challenge, Starts April 1, 2018

You've hopefully enjoyed some of our previous "Colors Count" challenges. Since these challenges have been so popular, we're moving on from Crayola crayons to paint. But, it's still all about color!

In this latest color challenge edition, you'll be painting rainbows - as few or as many as you want! From the California Paints Color Palette below, you'll choose ONE color title from each of the seven categories (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink). You will spell out each color by reading a book for each letter, using the first word of the book's title (ignoring a/an/the) or the first or last initial of the author's name.

You must finish each color sequentially and cannot move on to the next color until you have completed the starting color. In other words, you must complete your red title before moving onto your orange title, before moving onto your yellow title, etc. Within a color, you can complete the letters in any order.

Once you have completed painting your rainbow, you have a final step before finishing the challenge. You've got to "find" the proverbial pot of gold. To do this, you'll read one final book that matches ONE of the criteria listed below under "POT OF GOLD."

Now, you're done! Did you have fun? Paint another rainbow! Select 7 different colors and begin again. You may complete 20 different rainbows! If you want even more than that, we'll talk. :) Don't forget your "Pot of Gold" task to complete each rainbow. You may use any of the gold tasks as many or few times as you wish.

POT of GOLD TASKS Choose one task per completed rainbow.
♣ Read a book with a gold-colored cover; remember to post the cover.
♣ Read a book with a gold object on its cover; must be visible in the GR thumbnail, remember to post the cover.
♣ Read a book with the word "GOLD" or "GOLDEN" in its title (no other variations, no compound words).
♣ Read a book by an author whose first or last name contains "GOLD." The letters must be together, but do not have to be separate - i.e. GOLDberg, GOLDbaum.
♣ Read a book with the author's name printed in gold; remember to post the cover.
♣ Read a book set in Ireland or written by an Irish author

CHALLENGE RULES

♣ For each book you read, please indicate the title, the author and the date you finished reading it. If a challenge task gives several options, please make it clear which option you’ve chosen. If the task calls for an item on the cover, include a link to the book cover.* If it’s not obvious from the book title or cover, be sure to explain how your book fits the task. If you don’t, you won’t get credit for completing that task.

♣ Unless otherwise noted, books must be at least 150 pages long.

♣ Books may only be used for one task in this challenge, but cross-challenge posting is encouraged!

♣ If you choose any of the spelling options, you may use the first letter of the first word in the book’s title (excluding A, An and The) or the author’s first or last initial (middle names or initials can NOT be used).

♣ If you want the challenge moderator to check your progress as you make updates, please copy/paste your update into a new message . We don't have time to scroll back through the entire thread looking for "message #15," or to follow links back to an original post.
