SOLVED. Looking for a fantasy book with a title very similar to "Gifts" or "Gifted" or something like that [s]

I read this book about 5 years ago, so in around 2010-2011, when I was in middle school. The title is very similar to "Gifts" or "Gifted", and it has a dark cover with a boy holding something in his hands (I think it was glowing?). In the book, the main character, a boy, possesses magical gifts, and he has a best friend who is a girl. The girl's character is very wild, she is a noble but enjoys spending time in the forest. The boy lives in a castle and I think his father or mother passes away, one of the two. I remember there being another character, a man who may have been a lord, who was romantically interested in the main characters mother, despite her being married and her not reciprocating his feelings.
At the very end, the boy and the girl have grown up a bit and the last scene of the book is them leaving the castle where the boy grew up, as a newly married couple.

This has been bugging me for years, and I really want to know what happened next!! Thank you!

This might be the 'Chronicles of The Western Shore' series by Ursula K.Le Guin. The first book is called Gifts, but the third book, Powers, has a boy with a glowing something on the cover.
