In the not a romance category, [book:The Couple Next Door|28815474] might be worth a look. Page number would depend on the edition you could get.

Liane Moriarty springs to mind as some of hers have groups of friends. Kirsten Hannah also has some that would fit the bill.

If you are into urban fantasy/paranormal romance then the later October Daye, Kate Daniels, Harry Dresden have ensemble casts that I'd definitely say were a groups of friends.

Pretty sure Remarkably Bright Creatures has a penguin in it, if you're interested.

A Little Life is about a group of friends.
Cemetery Boys might also work.
The Tea Dragon Society is a young adult graphic novel and definitely fits. So does the Heartstopper: Volume One series.

I second Liane Moriarty.

Also, if you like Horror, then Stephen King does a few that fit, such as It, Dreamcatcher or less horror: The Body (which went on to be filmed as the movie 'Stand by me')

It would have been the default version, as I'd normally grab the audio, but it seems the audio version for that one isn't great. The Kindle is also even # though, so I may get it. I'm giving myself until the end of the day to decide on something :)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12880 comments A thought... In the Orphan X series, Evan Smoak and his love interest live in the same apartment building... Would that count as neighbours?

I'd say yes

Vicky (librovert) | 3137 comments Going to skip the task: Read a book where a character is 16 years old - not that it's hard to find a 16 year old, but I've read enough books to cover a skip and I'm not sure when I'll come across another 16 year old with even pages. LOL

Moving East with even pages.

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments In my first maze I didn't understand the pattern and went left when I should have gone right. Went on a 13 book detour before hitting the dead end. Then had to read all the way back. It was crazy!

The other Sandy | 282 comments My next task is to read a book published in May. The hardcover of my current book was published in March, but the audiobook edition, which is what I'm listening to, was published in May.

Do I use the date of the first edition ever, or can I use the date of the edition I'm reading (listening to)?

The general rule of thumb is to use the edition you are reading, so I'm guessing you're good :)

You'd be surprised... Perfect Formation (Perfect Fit, #1) by K.B. Alan , irritating name game, coffee tables and all? 3.71
The Lost Girls (Dino Island #1) by J.R. Hogan , in all its cheesy glory? 3.83 (granted, that is probably 500 versions of the author trying to offset our less-than-perfect ratings, but the rating still stands)

message 1094: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
When we read it there were only 4 in the Dino island series, now there are 8. Obviously we haven't put the author off.

Interstellar super explorer and Fifty Shades of Mr Darcy: A Parody make the cut if you've missed out of either of them.

I just have a strong sense of self-preservation that only kicks in some of the time. When it comes to that - I hesitate to call it a book -it is one of those times. ;)

message 1098: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8052 comments Please tell me you read Cat's synopsis of the book? Side-spitting!

If you need a book with a bad rating (3.08), that I liked a lot and has extremely mixed reviews, try The Book of Joan by Lidia Yuknavitch .

message 1099: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12880 comments Yes, I did. I thought the synopses were all amusing enough and did not feel the need to further subject myself to such horrors :D

If I find myself in the position where I can use it, I'll give it a whirl. it's rated a little too high for this task though.

message 1100: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8052 comments Whoops. I read that as <3.10.
