Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12881 comments Maybe, but Keira knightly as Elizabeth really doesn't work for me...

message 1002: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 8052 comments I agree, but the supporting cast was good, I thought. Especially Mr. Collins. Perhaps not like he was described in the book, but perfectly played.

message 1003: by Insiyah (new)

Insiyah (insiyahxo) | 609 comments McFayden was the perfect Darcy, though. He's tall and so, so painfully awkward all the time which is exactly how Darcy is described in the book.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12881 comments I will be skipping the "read a book on the amazon best seller list of 2017" task, as I've read everything on there I'm even vaguely interested in. How does all this dreck keep showing up on these lists? lol.

Going East, so even page #

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Anyone got any cat shifter novel suggestions? I really don’t want to get sucked into a reread right now and all I can think of are Jane Yellowrock/Nell Ingram, The Others, or Kate Daniels. I also really don’t want to read 4 books to skip again right now lol

message 1023: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Hmm, Kiss of Snow by Nalini Singh probably has some cat shifters in it, even if it follows a wolf and a psy. 🤔

P- The Guncle (C: Patrick) - 326 pages

message 1036: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12881 comments I knew it was too good to last... My next task is

"Read a book with the phrase "In the heat of the moment" in a book"

As I'm not a kindle reader, this one's probably not going to happen, as the "look inside feature" is rubbish enough for trying to find a word, never mind a phrase! Please sing out if you happen to know any for this one (going East, even page #)

Especially frustrating as the end is in sight! 4 more moves to finish.

message 1037: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Try finding the book on the Google book website. You can search the text in a lot of books that way :)

message 1038: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12881 comments Google books seems to have the exact same previews as Amazon. most of 'em useless, if they have one at all, lol. It's great for classics that are copyright free, but most newer books you get a few pages if any.
I've acquired many a headache trying to source things from books that way, as any "find X in text" challenges are NOT audio friendly.

Now if I liked the band Asia a bit more, I could see if there's a book about them out there, but that's a step too far for a challenge prompt, lol!

message 1039: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I can check the US google books for you if you want to message me some titles. I’ve had pretty decent luck on there in the past!

Or just work towards the skip. 4 books for you is like two days! Lol

There is that! lol.

message 1041: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (books2hooks) | 479 comments My kindle says that in Scythe by Neal Schusterman you can find "in the heat of frustrated moments."

And the Sunbearer Trials by Aiden Thomas has it!

message 1042: by Sammy (last edited Mar 08, 2023 09:12AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12881 comments Dang! could have done a re-read of Scythe, but it has uneven page #s :(

I'm not sure the other one is going to be my cup of tea... but thank you for checking for me! :D

I'll work on the skip unless I happen to come across something serendipitously :)

EAST - even page numbers

S - The Giver of Stars (C: Sophia)
K - The Key to Rebecca
I - Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster
P - Big Little Lies (C: Perry White)

I'd re-read Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec , but I need even page #s :(

I also read Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1) by Alice Clayton relatively recently, but will use it if I can't find anything else. (for anything else read: 'not a romance', lol)
