Oh no! I totally forgot about that rule! What do I do now?

S: Seaweed Brain
K: Kiwi Cat's Cafe: A Comics Collection
I: itsybitsy
P: Percy Jackson
Does anyone use 'The' to get a title between N-Z? Both books from the 2015 Amazon list I want to read start with M's if you don't count 'the'. This task is so hard, because over half of those books aren't novels.

Before moving on with the maze, you should replace the books that don't work in your SKIP. Then carry on as normal.

We have an update to the mazes! If you would like to take part please follow the instructions below. If you have finished your maze and would like another go, just create your own!
To enter your maze go to https://maze.meic.dev/ and press create an account in the top right corner. The access code is NBRC2023.
Once you have done this, there will be a blue button in the centre to create a maze. Pick your maze size (10x10 is standard and has been well tested) and difficulty (description above).
Any problems please either post here or message the Mod account (or Sophie directly).

Task: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as juvenile - plurals and spelling acceptable
South: N-Z
H: State of Shock | CLN: Holland
E: Reunion in Death | CFN: Eve
L: Seduction in Death | CFN: Lucas
P: Purity in Death | title

Awesome! :D

Task: Read a book about a lion (or a shape shifter who turns into a lion)
Direction: South
(Because I am not planning on reading Narnia or Wizard of Oz again)
S: Selected Poems by William Wordsworth
K: The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart
I: A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood
P: To Sleep in a Sea of Stars by Christopher Paolini

Don't worry, most of the tasks are a lot easier! That one unfortunately just seems to be basically impossible, I checked hundreds of books before I gave up and just skipped.

Do you know how to search for tags? I don't want to presume, but it is really helpful for these types of prompts.

Yes! Just making sure, as I found that trip really crucial to many tasks.

Task: Read a book which has the main location (setting) as Canada
Going West (uneven pages)
H The Stone Giant (C: Henry)
E Eye of the Needle
L Midnight Crossroad (C: Lemuel Bridger)
P The Princess Diarist
I'll be back to link etc. as I read them

Task: Read a book shelved (listed on the first page on GR) as started - plurals and spelling acceptable
Direction: South - Title N-Z
S - Spells for Forgetting (title) 1/29/23
K - Written (AFN - Kathryn) 1/28/23
I - The Nightingale (CFN - Isabelle) - 1/10/23
P - Priest of Bones (title) - 2/7/23

No, hadn't heard of them, but I'll keep an eye out for them! :D

I'm in search of some recommendations.
Read a book co-written (and credited) to two authors
My reading of this is that I want both author's names on the cover so Ilona Andrews wouldn't count for me - or I'd be well away and onto the next one by now.
ETA: heading East so even would be ideal, but would depend on edition I could get so please don't worry about it.

Illuminae
All American Boys
The Roughest Draft
This is How You Lose the Time War
A non-rec: The Long Earth. Did not work for me in the least. But Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch would and is excellent fun!
If you want to shout at annoying bad science and irksome writing style: Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality
Not sure how available it is now, but regency fantasy romp: Sorcery & Cecelia: or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot
Not checked any of the page counts of the above.
Will also say that ....Lose the Time War was lovely

Clive Cussler only writes books with other authors these days. just about any of his from the past 20 years would work.
unfortunately they tend not to be as good as his solo work :D
Thanks everyone! Probably going to read Mistress of the Empire to get a bit further with that series.
I enjoyed Good Omens and Leviathan Rises (finished the series). I've added some of the other recommendations to my TBR (getting it below 200 by the end of the year is already going backwards).

Odd how that keeps happening, isn't it? lol.

Direction: South (Title N-Z)
S: Steve Berry, The Last Kingdom (counting The as T), 400 pages, finished 5 Jan 2023
K: K.M. Neuhold, Stick Shift, 276 pages, finished 8 Jan 2023
I: Ilona Andrews, Sweep of the Heart, 472 pages, finished 11 Jan 2023
P: Paul Tremblay, The Cabin at the End of the World (counting The as T), 272 pages, finished 8 Jan 2023

as every single one of the books I have waiting by authors with suitable names are N-Z titles, and I need to go north. *sigh*
S Empire in Black and Gold (C: Stenwold Maker)
K The King of Shadows
I Americanah (C: Ifemelu)
P (The) Carpet People by Terry Pratchett

✔S The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis 1/18
✔K The Leviathan: The Blackchurch Guild: A Medieval Romance by Kathryn Le Veque 1/16
✔I If You Only Knew by Kristan Higgins 1/21
✔P The Cabinet of Dr. Leng by Douglas Preston 1/15
3 out of the 4 titles are Netgalley commitments being published this week, so I guess I'm going north lol

Yup.
