This thread is to discuss Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, the first book in The Farseer Trilogy.

I have started this book a little early and read the first two chapters today. When is everyone else planning to start?

I'm planning to start Monday or Tuesday. How did you liked the first 2 chapters?

It is a bit of a slow start, but I really like the writing style :)

I have a few books left to finish up (ok, I have like 6 on the go right now which I normally never do) but I’m thinking I’ll be able to finish at least a couple of them by next weekend and then I can add this into the mix :)

The boyfriend will be out of town for three days so I should get a lot read!

Chapter 5: (view spoiler)[I am surprized about how kind and caring Chade is. Other books I've read about Assasins always portrayed their teachers as horrible, brutal men. Chade is not like that at all. (hide spoiler)]

I am at about 50% of the book. I like the story so far. It is interesting to follow his education and look at the way he interacts with his different teachers. I am also curious to see how he will use his “special talent” when his training as an “assassin” will be complete.

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[I have a lot of trouble getting through this book. It is still very slow, and I keep waiting for something to happen. Even when I feel like we get political intrigue or other exciting stuff, like the trip to Lord Kelvar, it is over before it really starts. Its is probably just me, because this book is such a favourite of many, but I am a bit bored. (hide spoiler)]

My copy came in and I read the 1st 3 Chapters this morning and I would have kept going, but I had to come to work. The style that it's written in reminds me of the Outlaw Chronicles by Donald Angus, which I'm enjoying reading.

(view spoiler)[ The relationship between Fritz and Nosy was sweet, but alas did not last. What a traumatic experience for a six year-old. How sad that Fritz's gift with animals is seen as something that's bad. His introduction to Hod was a hoot! Looking forward to seeing more interaction between them. I haven't been overly impressed by many of the adults. (hide spoiler)]

Glad I decided to read this! Looking forward seeing what happens next.

Shoot y’all. I forgot all about this and it’s the end of March. Doesn’t help I haven’t been on GR either. I’m sorry many of you didn’t really enjoy it.

I’ll pass on continuing too. Even though I haven’t started the first book yet, I have to space series out or I get bored with them so reading #2 right away was never in my cards.
