Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments This thread is to discuss Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, the first book in The Farseer Trilogy.

Pages: 435 pages

Length: 1 Month (March)

Participants: Ilona, Sunny, Lorraine, Dominique, Rebecca, Allie, Pervinca.

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Happy Buddy Reading!

Ilona | 4698 comments Thanks for posting Trisha!

I have started this book a little early and read the first two chapters today. When is everyone else planning to start?

Lorraine | 2380 comments I'm planning to start Monday or Tuesday. How did you liked the first 2 chapters?

It is a bit of a slow start, but I really like the writing style :)

Allison | 491 comments I have a few books left to finish up (ok, I have like 6 on the go right now which I normally never do) but I’m thinking I’ll be able to finish at least a couple of them by next weekend and then I can add this into the mix :)

The boyfriend will be out of town for three days so I should get a lot read!

Sunny | 2311 comments I'm having to wait on a copy to be available so I'll be later starting this one. Probably in a couple of weeks.

Ilona | 4698 comments Chapter 5: (view spoiler)

Lorraine | 2380 comments I am at about 50% of the book. I like the story so far. It is interesting to follow his education and look at the way he interacts with his different teachers. I am also curious to see how he will use his “special talent” when his training as an “assassin” will be complete.

Oh no! If a book starts out slow, I quickly lose interest.

I’ll start this weekend too.

Sunny | 2311 comments My copy came in and I read the 1st 3 Chapters this morning and I would have kept going, but I had to come to work. The style that it's written in reminds me of the Outlaw Chronicles by Donald Angus, which I'm enjoying reading.

(view spoiler)

Glad I decided to read this! Looking forward seeing what happens next.

SarahKat | 6223 comments Hi all! When this book was suggested, it looks like the whole series was suggested but has not yet been confirmed. If 2 or more of you want to continue with the 2nd book next month, please let us know in the sign-up thread today! Thanks!

Ilona | 4698 comments Thanks for checking in SarahKat! I am not planning on continuing the series.

Lorraine | 2380 comments Hello everyone. I will not continue either. Thanks

Dominique | 1223 comments L'm only on chapter 12, still not sure about it.

Allison | 491 comments Shoot y’all. I forgot all about this and it’s the end of March. Doesn’t help I haven’t been on GR either. I’m sorry many of you didn’t really enjoy it.

I’ll pass on continuing too. Even though I haven’t started the first book yet, I have to space series out or I get bored with them so reading #2 right away was never in my cards.
