Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Buddy Reads are a great way for members to share their thoughts and ideas about the books they read! If you are someone who is looking for a buddy to read that long-planned TBR stack of books, this is the right place for you!

This is the current thread to join or nominate future Buddy Reads. If at least two people commit to reading together, the Buddy Read Moderators will create a thread for the suggested book. For the current month's buddy reads, please go to the thread of the book you wish to read and let the other participants know you will be joining in. You DO NOT have to be on the participant's list to participate. Click here to go to the current month’s buddy reads folder.

To see what books are planned for 2021: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
And for 2022: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Books may be seconded through the 25th of the month before. So, January 25 is the last day for February Buddy Reads; February 25 is the last day for March Buddy Reads, and so on.

***IMPORTANT GUIDELINES***
To nominate a buddy read:

Please ensure to include all of the following:
1. Book Title & Author OR use the 'add book/author' function to add the book link (it will automatically include the author when clicking the link). Please refrain from adding the book cover.
2. Series name, if applicable, and whether you want to read the full series or just the first book. Only the first book in the series will be added until/unless the rest of the series is confirmed by a second person. We will add each subsequent confirmed book in the series 1 or 2 months at a time, making sure the threads for previous books are still active.
3. Month you would like to read the book. You may say you are open to other months, but include your first choice of month compulsorily.
Note: Please keep your suggestions limited to the next 3 to 4 months. This will help the thread stay organized, and lower the chances of readers dropping out or forgetting they've committed to a buddy read months in advance. The mods will announce which months are “open” for suggestions in this thread.
*Please do NOT suggest more reads than you can commit to participating in. We know life happens and you can always cancel or drop out, but if you generally read 8 books per month, please limit your suggestions to 8. Extravagant suggestions lead to unnecessary effort by the Mods Team.

To second/join a buddy read:
Please ensure to include the following:
1. Book title & author OR use the 'add book/author' function to add the book link. Please refrain from adding the book cover.
2. If a series, whether you are committing to the first book only or the full series.
3. The month you would like to read the book with the person who suggested it - either the one they suggested, or if they are open to another month, what month you are able to read it with them.
4. When responding to a fellow reader, please use the 'reply' function to do so.
5. Kindly note that the Moderators will skip lengthy conversations between readers, and will not add books to the spreadsheet if any of the above information is missing or in question. Once you agree on the details of a particular buddy read, please post a fresh comment requesting for a buddy read thread, including details: the reader’s name who has agreed to read with you, month and the book link compulsorily.

Click here to see an example of a suggestion post.

To withdraw from planned buddy reads:
We understand that unforeseen situations could prevent our buddy readers from joining the buddy reads they had previously suggested or confirmed to join; in such a situation, please comment in this thread informing the Moderators to remove you from your planned buddy reads. Please DO NOT DELETE your original post, instead post a new comment requesting to withdraw from the buddy read.

Archiving buddy read discussions:
Previous month's threads are archived on or after 25th of the current month. So, November buddy reads will be archived on (or after) 25th December. If you are running behind and would like the discussion thread moved to the current month, please request so here.

If you have any suggestions towards improving our current process, please feel free to direct message our Moderators. Our Moderators Team will discuss the feasibility of the suggestion and thereafter, take a decision.

We have closed the 2021 sign-up thread, but please note you can still suggest/confirm books for December 2021 in this thread until November 25th.

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* (marcthedarc) | 660 comments Sinisa and I have agreed on the following schedule for our ongoing Discworld buddy read:

January 2022: Night Watch
February 2022: Monstrous Regiment
March: Going Postal
April: Thud!
May: Making Money
June: Unseen Academicals
July: Snuff
August: Raising Steam

And then we're done our 3-year buddy read! We decided to separate out the "younger readers" books - if anyone wants a buddy read for those in the second half of 2022, please post! (The Tiffany Aching series in particular, but it can start with The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents)

message 27: by SarahKat, Buddy Reads (new)

SarahKat | 6221 comments Exciting Marc! I've added those through April, with a note reminding myself or Trisha to check this comment for the correct order for the rest.

Are you interested in reading only the first book or the entire series?

Also, Ruthless Magic is confirmed for December.

Trisha (trishabisen) | 2389 comments Michelle wrote: "I have never done this before, but as long as I can get Skipping Christmas from the library? I am happy to try it out as a buddy read."

Michelle, can you confirm if you'd be able to get Skipping Christmas from the library in Dec? There is still time for confirmations so you can come back by 25th Nov to confirm your participation. Since there is only one other participant, in case you're unable to get the book, the buddy read would be cancelled. So let us hold onto confirming the buddy read until you've checked with your library.

I'll wait for your response. :)

Updated.
