Martha and Jimmy both knew that Phillip Colter was dangerous. Why did Martha go to see him after she knew he’d discovered her betrayal? Do you think she suspected he might kill her?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments For her entire life, starting with her father, Martha didn't think there was a man alive who she couldn't possess.

She was confident that she only needed to bat her eyes and she would be back in Philip's good graces. There is no way that she was afraid of him until it was too late. She believed until the end that every man on earth wanted her.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I think she was hoping he would still love her and forgive her, but she also knew how ruthless he was. She would have known that her life was at risk. It's probably why she left her daughter behind.
Once again I agree with Sharon.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments This was one time Martha should have cut and run back to her family. Phillip may had caught up with her, but she had a better chance there than confronting him. Martha thought she could talk or sex her way out of anything. She vastly underestimated Phillip.

Yeah, I’m with Sharon. Martha’s confidence in her ability to control men was her undoing with Phillip, even though he’d shown his dark side.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I agree with everyone. Martha thought that she was in control and Phillip would once again fall for her con. I really don't think it crossed her mind that Colter would kill her.
