Denise Hello everyone! I've been hemming and hawing about signing up for this club because of two reasons: 1. I may not be able to read enough of the Books of the Month, or 2. I might want to read ALL of them.

Obviously I took the plunge anyway and I'm already counting up all the hours/dollars I can spend on this craziness. :) I like to think I read a lot though I don't get to do it as much as I would like (pesky job). I almost exclusively read fiction books with a strong inclination towards horror/fantasy/sci-fi although I will have ocassional bouts of historical epic binges. I'm also the moderator for another book club here on Goodreads that is based around the readership of a friend's webcomic. I don't want to talk too much about it as it might fall under "spam" or "self-promotion," but I'll tell you more if you ask about it. :)

I'm excited and giddy to be here, and already planning on a run to the local bookstore this weekend to pick up the assigned reading for this month. Nice to meet you all!

Stephanie (sbez05) | 556 comments Welcome! The great thing about TNBBC is that if you've already read the monthly reads or just choose not to read that month's particular picks, there is bound to be another active thread of people discussing a book you DO want to talk about. :) Watch your wallet, TNBBC is famous for exponentially adding to your TBR.

You'll love it here!

Hi Denise.
Dont worry about the group reads. SOmetimes I dont participate for months at a time, even tho I run the show :)

And yes,,,, watch that cash! This group is all about celebrating splurges and book buying binges!!!!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Welcome Denise. TNBBC is definitely good for the soul and bad for the wallet, but hey, we could have worse addictions, right! (Yes I consider myself a book addict)
I usually try to do the monthly reads, but only end up getting one in as I am also in a few other groups, so don'f feel bad if you don't get them all in.

message 5: by JSou (new)

JSou Welcome to the group, Denise! I, too have fallen behind in the group reads, but the great thing is you can always go back to the discussion threads for the group reads any time you want!

There's TONS of discussions on virtually everything else, so it's great to just jump in wherever you like!

Maree | 3 comments Hi Everyone!
My name is Maree. I am a chain reader as I am sure most everyone here is. Right nowI I am reading An Echo in the Bone and Netherland. I don't usually read 2 fiction works at the same time but I was already 100 pages in to Netherland when the new 'Outlander' book arrived and I couldn't wait. I will get back to Netherland when finished AEITB. ; ) I spend alot of my time (too much my family says) in Strand bookstore and B&N.
I am also a published poet and working on a novel of my own. I work on it when I can drag myself away from reading. My favorite authors are Ann Patchett, Richard Russo, John Irving, Kate Atkinson, Nicole Krauss, Sherman Alexie, Brian Morton, Julia Glass..... to name a few.
I look forward to meeting fellow book lovers and adding to my already overflowing TBR.
Better, best
Maree

Hi Maree! Congrats on being a published poet, and good luck with the novel that is in the works! I have not read any of the authors you mentioned, but I do own a couple of Irvings that I will read sometime... soon...perhaps! Ohhhh.. so many books to get through and so little time!

Welcome Paul!

Maree | 3 comments That is so true Lori! I go into Strand and look around smiling (probably look like an idiot) thinking I will always have a book to read.
