SOLVED. Modern day story of Medusa. [s]

I read this book a long time ago. The story was about a kid who was named after certain Greek character from hell. There was medusa in the loose and she was turning people into stone left and right. She was also possessing one of the kid's friend's body. From my faint memory i can recall the name started with "H" but that's the extent of it. If anyone knows those book please let me know.

The curse of snakes
Its good read, only remembered the "Hellion" at bottom.
