I read a book about a teen girl that ran away to meet up with her biological mother after receiving a letter from her. At the beginning of the novel the girl and her sister(s) are playing outside and the mother starts to murder them. The main girl is the only one to survive and is adopted. There is a fairly large time-hop (about 10 years or more) and she is in high school. A new kid moves into school and takes a liking to her. They often reference his thick southern accent. He helps her run away to meet with her mother. While in a hotel she has a freakout because she felt him in the bed with her and thinks he had gotten into her bed when actually she had climbed into his. Eventually, they get to the facility that her biological mother is being held at and her adopted father catches up to them. The teens catch feelings for each other throughout the book but that wasn't the focus. TIA
