I wouldn't merge them. One is a general audiobook and the other is Audible specific. It's like having an ebook (available outside Amazon) and a Kindle edition.

I don't know what is normally done but I viewed it more as a book (let's say, hardcover) that can be sold through Amazon and also through Barnes & Noble even though it's the same edition. It's just that Amazon is also using ASIN identifiers but it doesn't mean the book is different.
Kindle editions have a different underlying programming than ebooks, so they are definitely different editions. Audible is a publisher and Recorded Books is a different publisher, so again, different editions.
On the Audible page it says "Recorded Books (Publisher)". What does that mean, then?

I'm not sure I understand how Audible is the publisher when the Audible page says "Recorded Books (Publisher)", but okay. Or is it actually still Recorded Books as the publisher but the edition is an Audible edition because the underlying programming is for Audible and even though the audio and chapters and graphics could be identical to another audiobook edition - there could still be differences (Audible features, like WhisperSync/X-Ray/etc. on Kindle)?
Recorded books is the publisher, Audible is the editionSame as an ebook might have Random House as a publisher, but have a separate edition for Kindle than the ISBN ebook (has more to do with being issued a separate identifier)
ETA: Audible can also be a publisher, but in this case it isn't

One is identified by an ISBN and the other by ASIN, but I think it's the same book. The first is probably this one:
