Henry Rouch | 9 comments In the book "Freedom Trials" by Meredith Tate, one character that stood out to me was the nurse in the infirmary. This is because unlike anyone else that worked in the prison, she showed sympathy to Evelyn when she was injured.

Addison Benz | 7 comments We were introduced a new character in this section. This new character was very strange because he was very charming, but with very maliputive undertones. I am intrested to see where his storyline goes. A Court of Mist and Fury

Alex | 8 comments Nakano Nino is the 2nd oldest sister of the 5 quintuplets. Nakano Nino is the character that really stood out to me because of her kindness to her sisters and especially her bond with one of her younger sisters Miku.

Mary Lister | 9 comments I read the first article/essay of the 1619 Project which was the author Nikole Hannah-Jones reflecting on her family's history with slavery and I just noticed how she used words that were understandable by anyone. She didn't use any heavy political/historical terms, she made it so that anyone could read/understand it which made sense since the article was originally made for a magizine, something everyone needs to be able to read.

message 7: by Ryder (new)

Ryder | 6 comments one character from the book: project hail mary, Rocky, really stands out to me, as he is an alien, but has a way of communication with musical notes and chords. i really find his character interesting, since he is almost as scientifically advanced as the humans, but has a much stronger material.

Bewilderment

As I have started the first section of this book, the character that stands out to me most is the father. The story centers around a father and son relationship, and to begin the novel they are on a camping trip together. The mother past away sometime, and the way in which the father is grappling with raising his son by himself and navigating what parenting ultimately looks like really stood out to me. I can only imagine what it would be like losing your partner and wife, and how that is made all the more difficult in helping your child navigate that as well. I am definitely interested in seeing how their relationship continues to develop and the way that they try to work through this tragedy in their lives together.

message 11: by Calvin (new)

Calvin Talmage | 11 comments Agamemnon stands out, not really for a good reason. He's quite stubborn and irate. After sacking a city the Achaeans must give up the daughter of Chryse to please Apollo but Agamemnon is just like "nah" and as a result, dozens of the Achaeans are shot by Apollo's bow.
The Iliad

Colin | 7 comments The character that stood out to me was Omar since he worked to save his family and was very brave he wanted to do what was right even though he might be punished for it

message 13: by Emily (last edited Feb 17, 2022 07:52AM) (new)

Emily Wolf | 6 comments Karl Engstrom stands out to me because the reader does not know very much about him. He does what he is told, speaks very few words, and does not reveal anything about himself. The reader knows more about Karl's wife, Willie than about Karl himself. We also know through the research of detective Kinderman that Karl was accused of several counts of drug possession but the charges were later dropped and 2 months later he moved in with the main character, Chris.

I remember that part, I remember not really liking him as a character either.

message 17: by Zhanna (new)

Zhanna Hymes | 4 comments a character that stood out to me was the character Melinda calls "IT". His real name is Andy Evans. he seems to have done something traumatizing to her since she calls him "IT" and either runs away or feels nauseous whenever she sees him. Since I watched the movie I already know what he did but I like how to book goes into more detail about how Melinda feels about andy and how much he traumatized her.

Ezequiel Delgado | 6 comments I read a newspaper and a book but i would say "My mother" i think shes interesting because she is trying to teach Alicia Garza how to protective her self in a dangerous situation. She is just really caring. The Purpose of Power: How We Come Together When We Fall Apart

message 22: by Layne (new)

Layne Koury | 9 comments I focused on Ryle, a new character that was introduced. He interested me because he seems pretty mysterious. He also seems like he is reserved, yet honest at the same time.

message 23: by James (new)

James Zeller | 4 comments One character that stood out to me is the main character, Sam Harris, who is the author because this book is about true stories from his own life. I just think that it's interesting how he handles different situations and his personality is very silly and outgoing, which I enjoy and find fun to read.

message 24: by Kaia (new)

Kaia Cmarko | 6 comments One character that stood out to me was one of the main characters Libby because i read more about her background then the other main character. She stood out to me because She is about to go to her first day of junior year and she hasn't been at school since 5th grade after her mom died and she got publicly bullied about her weight and i want to keep reading to know more.
The book is Holding up the universe by Jennifer Niven

message 25: by Arielle (new)

Arielle Buzil | 10 comments one character that stood out to me was Perry, I dont know too much about him, but he is the band leader cuz there is a band in the book. Hes a lot older than all the other guys in the band and I dont really know why he stood out to me but he kind of if a paternal character for the main character. But he is really stubborn and has a bit of a temper. Anything Goes: A novel

message 26: by Adja (new)

Adja Cissokho | 3 comments Light is a very interesting character to me because he has a really strong sense of justice but doesn't know what he's doing is wrong. In this chapter he tries to kill someone for condemning him and he still thinks he in the right. Background info: Light has a journal where he can write names in it and he's been killing off a lot of criminals.

I feel like laynes character is a nice guy and the way she describes him makes him seem like a good person.

message 29: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor | 11 comments The character Kathleen stood out to me. I think her internal conflict is so interesting. She is living as her dead sister because her father does not accept her as a woman and neither would society (set in 1920's Shanghai). Her internal monologue reflects themes of wanting to find herself but needing to act like someone else to be safe and not arouse suspicion.

Alex Andalman | 4 comments 1.Okonkwo is the leader of his household in an African village and he stood out to me because of the way he views showing compassion as a form of weakness and how he's trying to pass down that to his children. Along with that the lack of real control over his actions and anger stood out to me. "Things Fall Apart"

Dash Blixt | 5 comments The Dark Matter of Mona Starr

The character that stood out the most to me was the main one, Mona Starr. While it was a quick graphic novel, the author really did well in developing and showing what was happening with Mona. The entire book is revolving around Mona and her depression which she calls "matter", we got a few explanations as to what Matter does but it's basically just her stand in for depression. Over the course of the book we meet other characters and by the end Mona has a full support group of friends and family who help her through, she had a physical illness resulting from the depression which was cured and by the end she seemed to be doing much better.

message 33: by Annabelle (new)

Annabelle | 6 comments One character that stood out to me is Daisy. I just started the book so don't know that much about her but she seems like a very interesting character and I think she will definitely be an important character. It also stood out to me how she is still with her husband even though she knows that he is cheating on her.

message 34: by Nell (new)

Nell | 9 comments I'm reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness, and in this book, the antagonist currently is named Aaron. He's a genuinely unlikeable person. He was a priest in the settlement where the main character, Todd, lived until recently. Aaron tried to kill Todd multiple times and survived a crocodile attack. He brought the entire town to search for Todd. He stood out to me because there isn't much background for him so far so he's a mystery.

Thats interesting.. I wonder how his character will progress

message 36: by Alex (new)

Alex Mahoney | 7 comments My book doesn't have set out characters. The book is about business management, so one main "character" would be the idea of a good manager. One very interesting aspect of a manager is the element of collaboration and teamwork. With set out goals, there are so many parts to a company that all need to come together to produce a product or complete whatever task is necessary. The manager is a great role because they are tasked with making sure everything comes together, it fits within the standards and outlines, all while achieving their overall goal.

message 38: by Adrian (new)

Adrian | 7 comments One character that stood out to me was Lex Luthor. Although he is an evil genius who typically goes against the heroes, in this story he's changed sides to save the universe and even used his words and persuasion to get this done.

Celeste | 5 comments i guess the one who stood out to me in my book called Tokyo Ever After is the main character named Izumi. She stood out to me the way she reacts to things is a little funny to me, and her life is about to unfold. Ive gotten some background on her life and her past and it's interesting. The way she thinks, her thoughts make sense.

I read that book and I really liked it. It's my comfort book and I love the way the author writes her passages. I think it had really powerful messages about rape culture and struggling with guilt.

I like when books give mysterious characters and you don't get much information about them.

message 43: by Christopher (new)

Christopher Nakane | 5 comments Kenton stands out to me the most so far in these last few chapters. because of how willing he is to help his friends in need. His family is into the military and so is Kenton and some aspects of his personality are a part of that which stands out to me.

There is also a character in my book, Alex Martinez, that may be important, but not much is known about him yet. "Freedom Trials" Meredith Tate.

Ollie | 5 comments The Companion

There is a character in my book named Agatha. Something unknown happened to her and she no longer speaks, so the main character is looking after her. But where I am currently in the book she has been writing messages on the walls to the main character, and she started speaking before her mother came in and stopped her. I want to know what happened to her and why she is opening up to the main character.

message 47: by Aidan (new)

Aidan | 3 comments The Maze Runner
The person I am focusing on is named Minho he is one of the runners in the glades. The glades is the place the live in. What the runners do is run through the maze trying to find a path out. Minho is a leader to the group of people in there but also very selfish. When Thomas the MC goes into the maze trying to help save him and Minho's friend he leaves his friend and Thomas to run away from the Greivers that are coming.

message 49: by Sydney (new)

Sydney Chow | 7 comments I think that prince Harry has been newly introduced and is super interesting to me. From Alex's initial perspective, hes very proper, boring, formal and closed off. However, as this story progresses you can see more of Alex's personality begin to shine through. This is super interesting to follow, and to observe how Henry opening up effects Alex and Henry's relationship.

Isaac Gold-Kessler | 5 comments In the book "Autobiography of My Dead Brother", I think that Rise was a pretty interesting person. The way he's represented in the book is really realistic and easy to relate to. It makes the overall reading experience more engaging since in most cases, he's easy to empathize with. This goes for almost all the people though, including the narrator. Rise was just lot more prominent as of where I am in the book.
