So, Johnny Nolasco is now chief of detectives. Surprised or not?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments Not surprised.

He appears to be good at getting the bad guys and mentoring an all male police force. He is stuck in the dinosaur ages when it comes to dealing with women.

Susan (cruelshoes) | 158 comments I was very surprised by this. I thought his bigotry would come out and stall him from climbing the ladder.

Jo Ann (jojog) | 104 comments Nope, not surprised. It's a still a good ol' boys club in the force.

I wasn’t surprised he was still there but a little surprised that he was head of detectives. He’s a dinosaur but so is leadership for putting him there.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3484 comments Susan and Jonetta, I believe Nolasco is one of the reasons for the prequels to the series. He was a good cop and performed over and above prior to Tracy and her class showed up. It sounded like women on the force is very new. Men were promoted until it became apparent that they were misogynists.

It is my guess that men like Nolasco had issues with minorities in general, but there isn't any indication that Nolasco was in that category. His supervisors didn't mention racist attitudes. I believe that he was a man who saw woman at home, taking care of her husband or kids whereas any male has the potential to be a good cop.

It’s impossible for me to get beyond the man groping women’s breast in a training exercise. That called into question his judgment and attitudes. This time it was misogyny but my experience is that’s a reflection of mindset when in positions of power. The fact that he’d enlist the help of the media to muddy up a fellow officer just confirms that.

I just find it hard to hold that in isolation when considering if he’s a “good cop.”

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I was surprised he was now chief of detectives. Since it appeared the other guys during the interviewing process in the previews didn't like him. Along with being brought infront of his supervisor for putting his hands on a female trainee.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I would have thought leadership would have enough of this guy and his attitude over the years. I agree that the Good Ole Boys Club takes care of their own.

I get your point.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I wasn't surprised that he was in a position of authority. I agree that he was part of the Ole Boys Club too.

I was also having a hard time getting beyond what he did.
He's a slimeball!
