Australian picturebook with maybe a couple of descriptive sentences per page. Set in early 1900s? Published in late 1900s, I saw it in the 80s/90s.
A boy is sick, in bed, and is given a kids' watercolour set (a box of the colour blocks you dab with a wet paintbrush). He begins painting around his room, then climbs out his window and paints the walls outside, working his way down the street. He paints vines, flowers, rainbows, everything that adds colour to the drab surroundings.
