Granddaughter won't read anything else

She read all of the HP books and loved them. But she won't read anything else. Says that "nothing else is as good". Does anyone have suggestions for a book she will like?

Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor) books are a bit similar to HP books. Takes a bit to get used to them, but they do pull you in!
Of course, nothing beats the HP books (coming from a 23 year old), but there are many similar at least.
Unfortunately, the Nevermoor series is not complete, there are three books out there, the fourth one is coming in Oct 22, and there are loads more planned, so she might not be satisfied with unfinished business.
Also, these are Australian books and it was challenging to read them as I usually read in American English. But, you get used to it. If she's using Kindle to read on, even better! I utilized the dictionary option so much on Kindle with these books, and expanded my Aussie vocabulary!

I really loved the Bartimaeus-series by Jonathan Stroud as well as The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan (I'd start with The Magicians' Guild). They're not really like HP as they obviously have a different story and world-building but they're both about magic and the protagonists are novices learning to master magic. I absolutely adored them when I was younger (and still do to be honest).

.A Series of Unfortunate Events
.I haven't read it but I've heard the Magyk - Septimus Heap series are good
. City of Ember
.The golden Compass

-I'm 15 and just recently started reading outside of the fantasy/magic genre (since last year). I still occasionally listen to the Harry Potter audiobook because there is really nothing like it. Hopefully your grand-daughter enjoys these books!

I really enjoyed the Percy Jackson and the Olympian, I found I it equally funny and enjoyed the fights and descriptions of the main characters powers. I loved both Harry Potter and Percy Jackson equally so it would be a good read, also there are lots of extra books Rick Riorden has written so it can keep you distracted for a long time.

First, Keeper of The Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger! It has 8 books plus a "8.5" companion and follows a similar HP-style plotline. Girl finds out she has "abilities," goes to a secret new world and attends a secret new school, and uncovers mysteries. I personally love this series because it had a strong female protagonist and was in a more modern setting than other "magic school" books.

Second, Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan! Again, there's the "kid discovers they have a secret power and goes on a thrilling adventure" plot that I loved as a kid reading middle grade books. Actually, I only liked those types of books. Haha.

Percy Jackson is narrated by the equally funny and equally powerful Percy, and I think your granddaughter will enjoy these because it follows a Harry Potter-style writing and is also very immersive, with many books for her to read and enjoy. :)

You people are fantastic. Thank you. I got her the first book in the Nevermoor series. (The first suggestion from Ina) Told her to read at least the first hundred pages. We'll see what happens.
