In case there's somebody else who, like me, doesn't read horror, I wanted to suggest The Haunting of Maddy Clare by Simone St. James. It's more of a gothic ghost story, with nothing I'd call horror, but that MPG is firmly listed for it. :)

I can also suggest another book by the same author The Sun Down Motel - more of a mystery/thriller than horror.
