Query about series info in title field

A question for the other Librarians in the group - once a book is linked to a series, it no longer needs the series information in the title field, is that correct? If so, can/should we go ahead and delete the series information from the title field (especially if it's inconsistently formatted) ? Thanks!!

It is optional to put it in but once it is there it should not be deleted. This is because the other series designation does not show on every page (such as author profiles.)

If it is wrongly formatted it should be corrected, of course.
