😍🎉

We could probably manage to complete Berlin if someone reads Berlin 3 ( a shop front on cover) and Berlin 7 (zoo)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I had to read a couple of books for two other team challenges. Luckily, I've been able to find unclaimed spots for them!

New York City - 1. Read a book with exactly 5 words in the title.
New York City - 9. Read a book set or published in the 1800s.

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments I finished my audio. I will take NY - location with Westside

Odette (odman) | 997 comments Just finished reading my second book Enigma of China, which I found to be a very interesting and absorbing read.
Now to start on the third Plantagenet Princess, Tudor Queen: The Story of Elizabeth of York. Not sure if I will like this one.

Here is a book on my kindle, which I have not read.
The Second Chance Tea Shop
The Second Chance Tea Shop (Little Somerby, #1) by Fay Keenan
Is this good enough for a shop front?
If so happy to slot this one in as my 4th read.

message 109: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I think that one would work, Odette.

message 110: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments OK, will go with that for the 4th.

message 111: by Margo (last edited Feb 16, 2022 01:46AM) (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Finally finished Sistersong for Berlin 5, mythology. It had a few problems but I enjoyed parts of it.

I'm listening to An Artist of the Floating World for Berlin 4, I have 3 hours left. Atfter that I have The Butterfly Tattoo lined up for Berlin 10.

I have nothing on my shelves for 3 or 7 but I'll search the library.

message 112: by Margo (last edited Feb 16, 2022 02:46AM) (new)

Margo | 11628 comments OK, I can do The Zoo for Berlin 7. It actually sounds pretty good.

Anyone got anything for 3, Shop front?

Odette, I missed this post! That's great, we have Berlin covered. Go team :-D

message 116: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Wait, do we have a book for Berlin 9, dog on cover?

message 117: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments We need Berlin 9 - Dog on the cover or MC has a dog that is a significant character, and then we'll have Berlin as well.

message 118: by Anna (new)

Anna Kļaviņa (annamatsuyama) | 1355 comments There are least two books that can be moved to fit Berlin 9.

message 119: by Lanelle (last edited Feb 16, 2022 10:06AM) (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I just finished one last book for a different team challenge. It fit into the London - Location spot.

And I've started reading I, Juan de Pareja for the Chicago 1. - read a book set in the 1600s.

message 120: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments and my notification are gone again....

Also, I would rather not move books yet, unless we have 2 books for a task.

Lanelle | 4020 comments Esther wrote: "and my notification are gone again..."

Mine, too :(

I have about 2 hours left of my last assigned book. I can take the Berlin 9 task.

Which city do we want to focus on next? New York City?

message 122: by Lanelle (last edited Feb 16, 2022 05:42PM) (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I just reported the last book for Chicago! Yay!

I don't see that anyone has claimed the Berlin 9 task, so I'll take it. I'll read The 101 Dalmatians by Dodie Smith .

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments Lanelle wrote: "Which city do we want to focus on next? New York City?."

It seems to be the logical choice. It has the most books spoken for.

message 124: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I finished An Artist of the Floating World last night and it was one of the most boring books I've ever read. I'll update the reporting thread later.

Am half way through The Butterfly Tattoo and that's not great either. Don't think I'll be getting a 5 star read out of this toppler!

message 125: by Anna (new)

Anna Kļaviņa (annamatsuyama) | 1355 comments I can read The Pearl Thief New York 5

message 130: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Finished The Butterfly Tattoo. It was OK.

Starting The Zoo.

message 131: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Change of plan. Didn't care for The Zoo so I'm listening to Animal Instinct: Human Zoo. It's available on audible plus. It's another full cast production.

I don't think I'll be able to finish Heir to Sevenwaters but I'll give it a go - it's my final book for badge one in the road trip challenge 😉

message 132: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I'm going to claim:

NYC - 6. Read a book with 'gold' or 'golden' in title Aunt Dimity and the Heart of Gold
NYC - 7. Read a book with a main theme of books Fahrenheit 451

Berlin 4 - The Second Chance Teashop

message 134: by Odette (last edited Feb 17, 2022 05:51PM) (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments I am a bit confused about where Plantagenet Princess, Tudor Queen: The Story of Elizabeth of York belongs as it is on the planning sheet for me for New York 3. However, it does not fit the description.

I have it on Berlin 2.

message 136: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments We'll just go with Esther's spreadsheet. The planning sheet was a way to get us started and it seems to have a few problems now.

Thanks, that's what I will put it down as

message 138: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I have 2 hours left to go in Animal Instinct: Human Zoo. It's not bad, sort of Midsomer Murder meets David Attenborough, weird combo.

I could start Hydra next; I think that will fit new york 8, reporter as the MC. Not 100% sure I'd get it finished though.

Is that our only outstanding book for NY?

message 139: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I finished NYC - 6. Read a book with “gold” or “golden” in title. I read a different book though. I read The Secret of the Golden Pavilion.

I'll listen to Fahrenheit 451 on my drive up to Utah today.

Ooh, one of my favourite! Enjoy :-D

message 142: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I finished my ebook read - The Queen's Poisoner. I won't start another book now since I won't finish it in time.

I'm still working on my audiobook, Cold Vengeance and I will finish it no problem. There is only an hour or so left on it.

message 143: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments Sorry team !
The last 2 days were insane at work (how dare they on a toppler week!) I am about to catch up and move books around if needed.

I am at 60% of my book. As I have both the audio and the ebook I am confident i'll finished it in time.

Janice (jamasc) | 59887 comments I have finished and reported my final book, Cold Vengeance. I read a total of 5 books this toppler, and didn't break any personal records. I did read longer books this time around, so that's likely why.

message 146: by Lanelle (new)

Lanelle | 4020 comments I finished and reported my last book, Fahrenheit 451. I definitely saved the best for last.

I think we all did a great job!!!

message 147: by Odette (new)

Odette (odman) | 997 comments I finished and reported my 4th and last book The Second Chance Tea Shop.
Thanks, Esther for looking after the spreadsheet. This is the first team toppler I have participated in. Think we all did very well.

message 148: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments 3.5 hours left in my final book so I will get it finished.

@odette, hope it will be the first of many ;-)

message 149: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Finished Hydra for new york 8, Read a book with an MPG of true crime or with a reporter as an MC. It was pretty good in a disturbing way. The mc was an investigative reporter who runs a true crime podcast.

Thanks to Janice for getting us started, to Esther for her wonderful score keeping and to the team for making this such a great week. I do love toppler weeks 😊

message 150: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) | 5191 comments phew... I ended up going back to work until 23h last night. Just finished my last book.
I tried moving books so we could have a 3rd city, but we always has at least one task that so not have anything that fits
