i read this book 2014-2017. it was either ya or junior (9-12y/o age group). the cover had a charcoal grey dragon and a girl wearing armor of sorts with reddish hair and a sword. her name either started with a “k” or an “a”. the book had a “tyrant king who ruled with an iron fist.” and the girl was trying to stop him. she had to find the dragon and she either fought it or teamed up with it. the king had done something to her family (dethroned or killed or something). there may have been something to do with the dragons heart or egg but that may be a different book.

the way i found the book like 2 minutes after posting this is foul. i spent an hour looking before this post. the book is iron hearted violet. my description was super off.
