It starts with a boy who goes deaf after a bomb goes off in a parking garage as he sits in his mothers car. He then moves to Cornwall with his mother. In the present day he is married but his wife is leaving him. He has synesthesia. I think its a female author and shes British

Becca's suggestion o fAltered Land by Jules Hardy sounds like your book.

Google Books preview:
https://books.google.com/books?id=PR2... There are different cover images.

Quotes from the book:
- Sonja told me then that she is a synaesthete (...) 'What? Like thinking Wednesday is blue and six?' (...) 'No, not like that.' (...) 'I mean like that - the sky changes and I taste sour lemon. I see the flash and I taste lemon.'
- [John, the son] knows there is something wrong, as if he has acquired a sixth sense, or in his case shall we say a different sense to replace the one that was lost? An acuity that others lack.
- I was thirty-six when the bomb blew and yet I still think of John's high-pitched baying in the hospital, still think of him screaming...

Boo, was that your book?

Whether it was or wasn't, we need you to put genre and plot details in your topic header, which is very vague right now.
