5/5 Stars- Finished 2-22-22
After I bought this book, I wondered, what was I thinking. This is probably a whole bunch of erotica and tiny bits of story here and there. That was totally not the case. The plot was fascinating. All the characters were so interesting and yet entertaining. The author did an amazing job writing thing and setting her self up for many great books in this series to come. I also really loved the ending. A lot of authors will cut off right in the middle so you need to buy more. She left it so that you WANT to read more of the series. I hope I get the chance to read book 2 soon!

Read: White Hot (Hidden Legacy, #2) by Ilona Andrews by Ilona Andrews, finished 02/21, 5 stars

Review:
5 stars easy. I am loving this series and these characters. Drawn in to the action from the first page. It's like everything from the first book just explodes. More drama for Nevada and her family as foes are revealed. More action as Nevada, family and allies do what is needed to protect themselves from the bad guys. And the sparks fly as Nevada and Rogan give in to the chemistry that is between them. Great writing, plot and characters. On to book 3.

Read: Wild Wolf (Shifters Unbound, #6) by Jennifer Ashley by Jennifer Ashley, finished 02/20, 4 stars

Review:
Great addition to the Shifters Unbound series. This one focuses on Graham and Misty. Graham is a grumpy Alpha dealing with ruling his wolves and trying to deal with the fact that they want him to mate with a wolf and not human girlfriend Misty. Throw in an evil fae plot, a couple of mischievous wolf pups, action, drama and romance and you have a great read. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Amanda- LateNightReader | 31 comments Review: Naked in Death by JR Robb 4.8/5 stars
Favorite Couples - Finished reading on 2/24

This book was definitely more than I expected. These books have been on my to read list for a long time. The only reason I didn't is because I like to finish what i start. And there are over 50 books in the series and that is quite a big undertaking. But I'm happy that I started this. It takes place in 2058. So, it was written in somewhat close future, and now we are almost 30 years closer to that date. And I noticed that Nora/ J.R. is close to on track on where we are heading technology wise. Anyways, this book was pretty great. From what I've read in the other reviews, a lot of people say it keeps getting better. I can't wait to keep going. I liked Eve; she was strong. I didn't think it was going to go so easy with her and Roarke. And Roake, I thought I'd hate him. I was wrong. I loved them both and really hope they are both around for all 50 something books! But if your sensitive to trauma/rape especially with kids maybe avoid this one. But I am a fan and I plan on reading every one of these books even if it takes me forever! I don't know where she found the time to write all these books, especially with all her other books. INSANE!

Shelf: Favorite Couple
Read 2/24/22
Rating: 2/5 Stars

I really wanted to like this more than I did. Like, I'm a sucker for found family pseudo-criminals and heists, but this was just a little lackluster for me. There were a lot of transitions that felt a little sudden, and I wasn't convinced by any of the romance. I did love the diversity of the group, and the way they interacted with each other in general (besides the romance). I didn't really like the ending though; the last couple chapters felt like multiple epilogues tacked on to the end rather than a conclusion. Overall it was interesting enough, but I probably won't pick up book two.

Tori Story (toristorytime) | 203 comments Review: Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
Shelf: Magic/Magic Users
Read 2/28/22
Rating: 5/5 stars

When I first started Legendborn, I thought it was going to be a pretty standard YA Fantasy, where a girl finds out there's magic and becomes super special. But this was SO MUCH MORE. I loved Bree's determination, and how she was able to reclaim her history and ancestry that had been stolen from her. The King Arthur angle was used in such an interesting way that touched on so many modern discussions about history and tradition and how it can be used to uphold oppressive social structures in our modern society. I didn't /love/ the potential love triangle thing going on, but other than that I thought the world building, plot, and Bree's character development and embracing of herself and her power was so cool. There were parts I had to stop reading and immediately run to the other room to tell my fiance about it. Insta-borrow for the second book when I can get it.

Amanda- LateNightReader | 31 comments Review: Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
Shelf: Magic/ Magic Users 5/5
Finished 3/1/22

Holy... Wow! I liked this book for the first half. I loved the second half. There were so many twists and turns throughout the book, I was never bored. I kept having to tell the husband to shut up so I could listen. (I listened to the audible version, and I highly recommend listening to the audio. They did a fabulous job with the narrator and the little music between chapters. I appreciate things like that). I also loved the amount of romance in the book, if that makes sense. Not so much that I was thinking, Uggh gag me. But just enough so that I am dying to see what happens in the next book. Valik was so definitely my type too lol. Oh, and that butterfly poison that she was introduced to at the beginning (I don't want to give anything away), but I totally knew it. But that was probably the only thing that I thought I knew and was actually right about it. Between the authors amazing style and imagination, and the amazing job the narrator did, this book was great. And I can't wait for more!

Yeah Moon called follows Mercy and Cry Wolf follows Anna and Charles. Action in their series kind of overlaps but you could start either way. But before Cry Wolf you have to read Alpha and Omega its a short 60 page novella that gives you background before Cry Wolf. both are great series

+1

Alpha & Omega is actually the first 60/70 pages of Cry Wolf. She wrote it as a short story then turned it into a novel, but didn't include the beginning of the story for some stupid reason.

Shifters Shelf - 5/5 Stars - Finished Reading: 3/8/22 <3

Excellent! I've wanted to start reading some Patricia Briggs book for like ever. And I am so happy I finally got around to it. I definitely want to read the rest of this series and all the other series that seem to be all part of the same world. I Love Mercy as a lead character. And there were so many other interesting characters. How could you ever be bored reading this one. I also loved all the back story. All of that stuff is extremely important to a good urban-fantasy, paranormal, or really any kind of world that is not like this world (Duh). And the way Patricia did it, it was flawless. I also listened to the audible version and the narrator was really great. Between the story and voice acting, they really killed it. I finished this book in about 1 day. I couldn't stop! I have so many new (to me) series to tackle. But this is definitely making it to the top of the really really long list. <3!!!!

READ: I'm Not Lion To You (Soulmate Shifters in Mystery, Alaska, #2) by Krystal Shannan by Krystal Shannan, finished 0306, 3 stars

REVIEW:
This was an ok read. 2nd book in the series but can be read as a standalone. Took me a minute to get into it. It is a soul mates, insta love story which is fine, I read and enjoy those all the time, I just didn't fully click with main couple of this story - Kann and Penny. He is a shifter from another world and she is on the run from her boss. It was a slow start but they ended up with their hea. Next book focuses on a different couple so I might give it a go.

Shelf: Shifters
Read: 3/10/22
Rating: 4/5 Stars

This was not entirely what I expected, in a good way. It had a very western gunslinger vibe while being in a Middle Eastern setting with that mythology, which was a really cool blending of the two. I like the main character, though sometimes her decisions seemed a little odd. I would recommend this to my teens though, and I'll probably pick up the second one sometime soon.

A Fist full of Charms (#4 The Hollows series) by Kim Harrison--Urban Fantasy-- Finished reading 3/12/22-- 5/5 Starts <3

I started this series years and years ago. Picking up a book here and there. So Its been a while (years) since I have read one of these. But these books were so well done, I pretty much remembered everything and was able to jump back in like I never left. Racheal, Jenks, and Ivy all very memorable characters. And Ivy and Kisten, and Rachel and Kisten, and most importantly Rachael and Ivy. Ohh, there is so much going on in these books. And I really am hoping that thing with Rachael and Ivy to work out. It was also awesome how this book had a lot of Jenks the Pixie in it. He really helps makes these books great. I loved learning more about him. Also, I loved that K.H's books always a little meat to them... Back story, plot, You know, little things like that. And this book checks all the important boxes. This is another series I swear I am going to finish. Kim's imagination is so totally worth it!

I really like this, though I expected something a little more expansive and epic since it's marked as the sequel to American Gods. I liked Fat Charlie, though bless his heart, he struggles. His character development was so good though, who he was at the end was such a natural progression and I loved that he found his own strength and power. I also really loved Daisy and their relationship haha. I don't know that I would reread it, but I'm glad I finally picked it up.

READ: When He's Sinful (The Olympus Pride #3) by Suzanne Wright by Suzanne Wright, finished 0311, 4 stars

REVIEW:
I love all things Suzanne Wright. She is one of my go to authors that I'm constantly re-reading. This is the 3rd book in her newest series. I had been waiting on these characters story for a while now- Camden and Aspen. Good addition to the series. This one was friends to lovers/mates with of course drama, mystery, action and bad guys. Camden and Aspen have been best friends since they met at their foster/group home as children. Loved getting to see them figure out their relationship. Camden is very possessive and both have hesitations and doubt. In the end the true mate bond shines thru. Looking forward to whatever is next.

READ: My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent , by Rachel Vincent, finished 0316, 5 stars

REVIEW:
So this is a new author for me and I absolutely loved this book. Don't know how I haven't come across it before. Don't think I've read anything like this. Loved the writing style, the characters and this new world of banshees and reapers that I found myself in. I was drawn in from the first page and just enjoyed the ride until I was spit out at the end ,still wanting more. Loved the characters, the drama, action , mystery and budding romance. In the midst of some strange and tragic deaths in her town, Kaylee is discovering that there are some secrets her family has been keeping from her. Nash is her crush who has secrets of his own and helps her realise what she is and can do. Can't wait to start the next story in the series.
