Oh I kill me, that is too funny.
I started into this next section last night and to about chapter 12. The book reminds me a lot of the Grind book we read in December. Fast moving and a sassy main character plus interesting supporting characters. Still not much further on finding hints on the murderer, though a lot of potential suspects are being considered.
With you all; started chptr. 9 last night. I feel for the little old Mr. who wants to win the night for his wife. Thing is, with all the cupcakes he's buying he might be able to buy a dinner at a local restaurant. lol
The book is a smooth, quick read. Does remind me of Grind in a way.
Pghfan, have you heard anything from Joan? I know she was going in for surgery and then when I wrote her, e-mail bounced saying acct. was closed. And Jh1 has been MIA since before Christmas. Our PI's... :-(

You're speaking my language, Allison: Chocolate! LOL Went to local chocolate shop and bagged a few 1/2 off heart thingies for myself. The good stuff!
And LOL on the mystery/Pinterest book. It would be a fresh, new twist on the genre.
As for the story, I must be too Goody2Shoes but I was a disappointed with Mel's stealing competition's gig by blocking her car and taking her place at the function. Who knows how much work and money the other gal spent on a campaign to earn that job. Can't score job on her own so she's steals acct. One doesn't mess with ones livelihood. And then her rep takes a hit for not showing up. But that's me. I'd do anything to get clues and info but not that.

I didn't like her doing that either. You just don't poach on others preserves.
I knew I had great reason to "heart" you PI's. Character and class you are. ;-)
And that dumpster scene was pretty visual. lol
Poor Marty. I hope he gets the gal, looses the rug for good. Time will tell.

I don't see relationship with Roach lasting much longer than this latest concert gig. And Tate better man up or leave Angie to greener pastures. He needs to knock off the snitch itch. Real men or friends don't play that game.

I'm with you Tina. Tate needed to speak up about his feelings long ago or shut up. I'm thinking by snitching to her brothers all he's done is burn bridges. Angie will probably never turn to him now.
Almost caught up to chapter 16. Any one else not liking Martinez? But then someone needs to be the heavy. ;-)
LOL On these hard guys coming in for cupcakes.

Just goes to prove you can't go wrong with a cupcake. For me, it's all about the frosting though. I can leave the cake portion but I love me some frosting!

Allison, yes, it's all about the frosting. A little cake is necessary which to load the frosting on. lol
Life happens, Jill, and we must heed the call. ;-) Actually, things worked out here. Gave me some time to catch up reading and time to get his mom squared away. Hope it works but there are several hiccups along the way. Not so much with the mom as all the peripheral stuff.

Black Beauty is a wonderful book. Think it was the 1st horse book I read around age 7 (?) or so and started my "horse-phase" lol. Pretty sure I read them all after that.
Started the thread for the last section of this book...it's ready whenever you gals are. Did I mention there are RECIPES in this book too? Oh these authors and the delicious food and me on Weight Watchers lol.

There are some good things about bad weather as you mentioned and getting caught up on reading is one of them.

I don't know if it's the influence of this book or what but I've been doing some baking lately...made Kahlua Chocolate Wacky Cake with homemade mocha frosting weekend before last and just yesterday made super delicious Rocky Road Fudge. Both recipes are found on Pinterest.
Darn Pinterest! I think I'm addicted...
