About 22 years ago (2000-2001) I checked out a book on snakes from my school library. It was plum-colored, or perhaps a dark maroon, and about the size of one of those Star Wars novels you would find at Goodwill. It featured a beveled cobra on the cover that was either gold or silver. The book was nonfiction and featured various information about snakes; it was almost like a field guide from what I recall. I have been unable to locate this book since I last checked it out in 2005 or 2006. I would greatly appreciate finding it as I have not come across quite an informative book on snakes since.

Could it be Snakes! (Know-It-Alls) by Christopher Nicholas?

No, it was definitely over a hundred pages. Maybe between two and three hundred. It was the size of a small genre fiction novel.

It did not come across as for children. It felt too technical and long from what I recall.
